MAJOR DVC withdrawal

This past spring, we decided to forgo celebrating our anniversary in WDW, and go to HHI instead. Although anyone who knows me knows I LOVE HHI, I've gotta admit I kinda missed WDW and am now enduring the l-o-n-g wait til we go in late September. Since we became DVC members 10 years ago, we've gone to the world every April/May, usually to OKW. Whatever was I thinking? I can't remember the last time it was a whole year between WDW trips-I know it was pre-DVC. September-hurry up!

Tempted by the WDW website and ease of booking a quick get away to the world but shock and awe over those prices, even just for a moderate room pull me back to reality. Fact is, I can't get away until November at the earliest anyway.

Oh I am RIGHT THERE WITH YA SIS!! We went LAST March over spring break and haven't been back since. We went to HHI last summer to have a cheaper vaca (ie no park tickets or flights) because we're doing it BIG this summer with 4 nights in Paris (1 night at DLP) and then a DCL Med cruise. 15 nights total. But BOY OH BOY is this frugalness killing me!!! We had been going 2-3 times a year for the past several years and this is a really long stretch to go without. And I miss my Owners Locker!!

To top this dry spell off we want to go to Aulani & DL NEXT summer.... I decided I just can't live without a trip to the world sometime in the next year tho. SOOO just this past few days I started trying to figure out a way to get down there. DS's school calendar SUCKS (no really long weekends). Plus he has swim meets throughout the winter & we have a ski trip in January. I just settled on a plan to go down for a few nights at spring break again. NOT the ideal time with the crowds & all BUT there just is no other time. Still a very long wait to go too. The killer is having to buy MYW tickets with no discount. But not sure if we'd be able to use AP's or not. Will wait until right before we go to decide (to see if DS's school calendar is out for 2013 yet). There would be $325 diff. between 5 day park hoppers & AP's at the current pricing. WORTH getting AP's if we can plan another trip sometime before they expire...Easter in 2013 is 3/31 & I don't know if his break will be the week before or the week after. It would be GREAT tho if his break was before - then we could slip in another quickie trip on the AP's.

I completely understand your feelings! I was there in Dec. and April this year and don't have another trip planned until next April. I am tempted to fit in a quick trip this summer to get my Disney fix, but I don't have any points left and availability is questionable (for points). I've been tempted to buy more points or book a trip with an AP discount!

Anal Annie, on one of the "after DVC stay surveys" I did there were questions asking if I would have an interested in other types of tickets, other than the AP. Maybe if enough people answer in the affirmative, something along that line will be happening!

We are skipping the world completely this year (second time in 40 years!) and heading to Vero Beach. I'm not thrilled about it, but I need the break to appreciate it more in 2012.

I feel your pain cause I am right there with ya!
Our last trip was Aug of last year and I am going through a serious withdrawal!!
There is no way I can go this long without a trip to WDW again!

I pass the days planning and replanning our trip in Aug the wait seems like it has been forever and I know these next 2 months will drag!

I too am having withdrawal!! I just had a baby and we didn't want the stress of a baby at WDW (or at least my DH didn't). So we took the year off until Dec. (18 mos between trips) and now I am regretting it. December can't get here soon enough!!

YES please!! I don't want them to do away with that AP discount - that's GREAT if you can go for at least 8 days... But if you CAN'T then the reg. park tix are crazy bucks! That's why we didn't go this year... OH MY HEART!! I miss that pricey leetle MOUSE!! It would be great tho if they could offer some sort of discount on regular tix.

DH and I have been going twice a year for the past few years, which is why DVC made sense and we bought against everyone's (parents mostly) advice. We were there in March and are going back in September and the wait feels like the forever.

The worst part? After September, we won't be back till December 2012 to celebrate my 30th birthday and then prob won't be back again until January 2014 for my hubby's 30th. Those kind of waits will be torture!!

I sympathize!! 2010 was a Disney-free year for us - we were fiscally responsible, had some stay-cations and got season passes to Great Adventure (a poor-poor substitute for Disney) - We haven't been to the World since July 2009 and on the Magic August 2009. It has been a really long wait for us. Our Universal/DCL/WDW trip is planned for this August, but its been a really long wait, and we seem to wish away our summer just to get to Disney in August . But it is so long overdue! Hang in there, September is just a season away!
