Just been watching Fox News and the major drought conditions in Florida.
Lake Okichobee (The BIG lake in the middle of Florida) is a major supplier of water to areas such and WDW and it is at the lowest EVER level due to lack of rain.
There are miles of land which is normally under water and the lake is continuing to shrik. They showed pictures of loads of aligators sunbathing on new beaches which have been made where there is normally water.
It was shwoin fires plumes of smoke from areas which are normally water.

They are saying that Okichobee is at the tipping point where the salt water gets into the pumping stations and can no longer be used with residents having to go onto bottled water.

Scary :sad1: :scared1:

God thats really worrying. Here are we moaning about the rain and they desperatley need some.Perhaps this is why they have predicted more hurricanes, because they have had such hot weather.Correct me if I am wrong.Hope it changes for thr poor people living there:eek:

Yes, we are very dry here right now, and the summer rains can't come soon enough. Fox paint a slightly more dramatic (no surprises there!) picture than we are seeing on a day-to-day basis, but there is no doubt it is way too dry, and the brushfires continue to be a nuisance (and worse further north). This follows the pattern of nine years years ago when we last had a major drought and bad fires throughout the area; it is likely to continue for possibly a couple of weeks yet. So, yes, please send us some of your rain asap!!

wow drought! Simon I'll send you our rain lol.
It's half term and it's been raining here in Bristol all day! I had to find DD something to do.
Luckily we hadn't scrapped booked our trip from this Easter!
I hope they have a down pour soon, but then also i wouldn't want that to happen on our trip :-(

We visited WDW in 1998 when SimonV said the last dought was. The rain followed us over, as it rained quite a lot that year. Got good use out of the ponchos. :rotfl2:

No doubt, the same will happen again this year, although, for the sake of residents and holiday makers alike, I hope it rains before we go as we still have 6 weeks to go. :woohoo:
