Major Confusion with Swan Government discount

I'm a bit confused. I attempted to get the Swan from May 17 - 22 with a standard room (2 adults and a three year old). Instead of getting the government/military discount of $149/night, I was quoted with the following:

5/17/04 $259
5/18/04 $259
5/19/04 $259
5/20/04 $149
5/21/04 $149

+ taxes $123.63

So how do you get the $149/night for the entire stay? Or is it only for certain nights? I had indicated in the dropdown that I was a government/military person.

Any ideas??? Thanks!

The discount is limited to availability. It could be that all the government rate rooms are gone those days. One hint is to call the Swan directly if the quote you mentioned was from the Starwood web site.

We did get the discounted teacher's rate (same as government)for our entire stay 12/28-1/03/04. We used Your Magical Journeys to book it. It may be that you can only use it certain times now, but its worth checking with yourmagicaljourneys.com(its free and they are wonderful!).

There will only be so many rooms available with the discounts so perhaps all the discounted rooms are booked for those first three nights.

Here is the curious thing. We are going from 5/24 thru 5/31 and we couldn't get the discounted rate for the 24th, 25th, and 26th (Mon, Tues, Wed nights - the same nights you couldn't get the week before). I guess they are really busy on Mon, Tues, and Wed nights?

I checked the Dolphin as well for those dates. Got the same price quote (minus the $10 room difference). I even tried teacher and nurse...got the same quote for those as well. AAA is a bit more expensive...but follows the same pricing ups and downs as the others.

Bummer :(

Another very good option for getting the discounted rates at the S&D is to submit your request via Dreams Unlimited Travel the sponsor of this site as they have great success with the rates.

I would also say to call the resort directly. When we stayed in aug, we asked for the dolphin but they said due to a convention only the swan was available. Now for our trip april 6-14 the first night the govt. rate was not available but for the rest of our trip it was. They really stressed to dh to bring his govt. id.

Hi Welcome to the Dis! As with all discounts the gov. is not always available. I've used it many times and have had to check when dates are available to get the discount. Try changing your dates if possible or check on the Swan Dolphin FAQ to see when discount is available. It all depends how full the hotel is. You can always check back to see if your other days become available closer to your stay that sometimes happens also. Hope this helps!! :)

I agree. When I booked for our trip I called the Swan/Dolphin directly and was quoted either $249 or $259 for the nights on which no discount was available. I checked with Dreams Unlimited via their website and reserved for $219. Definitely check them out!!!!

It must be the dates that I picked. Just plugged in some dates in mid August and received the $139/night for all nights. Will probably stay at Animal Kingdom instead as the price difference between the two (with hopper tix) isn't that much.
