Major announcement for Disney Theme Parks June 7th?

I heard that about 10 Annual Passholders from the 50 who won the Happiest Passholder on Earth contest last year were invited.

This tells me it has something to do with WDW and all the parks around the world.

I'm going to say it's more than one announcemnet. My guess it what has already been said. Pirates and Princesses and launch of a new celebration. My guess is EPCOT's 25th.

I will guess either Tarzan or Cars related as Cars is just opening and it is being marketed like nothing I have seen in a long time.

DH noticed the marketing for Cars. I wonder why? :confused3

A big Epcot Anniversay (25 years??) is next year. Maybe it's something about tha. Incidentally, it would be cool to have a new Illuminations for the anniversary; Reflections of Earth has been at the park for a very long time. Not that I don't like the show, of course!!!)

The CEO has made it Quite Clear....there will not be a 5th Park in Lake Buena Vista ! ( at least for a VERY VERY VERY Long time ) Sorry. :artist:

Whatever the announcement is, it is not exclusive to WDW, or else they would be having it there. I suspect that it has something to do with all of the companies theme parks, not just the one in Florida.

Why did WDW celebrate the 50th? It's not the park turning 50. Disneyland did. But in coming up with a worldwide marketing campaign, Disney could encourage potential park guests to visit the Disney park closest to them, with each park getting something new and special for the 50th.

That's what I think this announcement tomorrow is all about. A new way to celebrate Disney theme parks all over the world and keep guests coming even though the 50th celebration is completed. It's not smart business for Disney to pour all their resources into one destination, but by doing different events at different parks according to the strengths of each destination, Disney doesn't neglect it's other parks. Disney could have kept the 50th focus on Disneyland only, and that would have done just fine, but imagine a WDW without Everest and Soarin'(brought for the 50th). Is it still wonderful and fun? Yes, but the worldwide celebration enabled Disney to allow guests who don't live close to Disneyland the opportunity to join in on the fun.

That's what I think tomorrow's announcement is all about. A new way for Disney to encourage guests, no matter what park is closest to them, to visit Disney. It's not just about 35 MK and 25 EPCOT, although both parks may wish to commemorate those milestones. It's just that those milestones mean very little to someone who's never been there.

:confused3 I may have something to do with the rumored Disney Park in Singapore. Or maybe some new ships.

Please add me to the Princesses and Pirates hard ticket event club. I bet that's what it is. When is it supposed to begin and end anyway? I would love to go during our '07 trip!!!

I should probably know but will someone please tell me what this princess and pirates hard ticket event thing is? thanks!

Hmmm, about a week ago there was announcement that Coney Island was poised to be revitalized. Almost overnight rumors started that Disney was eyeing the site. The only thing that is making me think that this might be the case is the timing of the event along with it being held in NYC. I'll be on the edge of my seat til tomorrow.

Isn't The Little Mermaid supposed to be comming to Broadway?? Wait... It said the big news was about the parks... Drat! I can't wait to find out what it is!!!!! :cool1:

My hubby is a cameraman for news in NYC and he was not told of any shoot covering this event tomorrow. I will let you know if he gets any kind of call later tonight. :surfweb:
FYI: He did hear that rumor about Coney Island also..

THat woulod be a dream come true for me, however it is too cold here in the winter for Disney to do something in NY.

I thought that at first also but it is Disney and it might not be a typical theme park per se. Oy, my mind is racing.

I don't believe it is any colder or snowier in NYC in the winter than Paris or Tokyo, and Disney opened year round parks in both cities. :confused3

Ooh! This is sooooo interesting! These kind of things get me SOOO excited! I hope it's not cheesy like that Mobile phone thing. I hope it's something really great!
On no, I'm getting myself all excited probably for nothing, I hope it's not a big let down!
I wish I had off tomorrow, I'd take the train into the city and head right for The World of Disney store! I'm only 20miles from the city so you can imagine how aggrevating it is that I won't be there!
Will someone PLEASE update this tomorrow with the enws? Thanks!

...just hope they're not springing a mid-year tix price increase:rolleyes: ...happy thoughts!

From Travel Agent Central:
"Disney officials are promising something spectacular that will almost immediately follow the conclusion of the company's year-long Happiest Celebration on Earth this September. On June 7, Disney will announce the specifics at a meeting in New York City. For now, Disney spokeswoman Vicki Johnson said the "something special" set for early October "will not be an event...[but] something special to do with our resorts and people traveling there." She then added, "I can't give away too much." The Happiest Celebration on Earth is the year-long commemoration of Disney World, Anaheim's, 50th anniversary. (MJ) "

Also for those mentioning the Singapore Theme Park (from the same site):
"Walt Disney, Corp., denied claims that it's exploring the possibility of building a new resort in Malaysia. Widely circulated media reports quoted Malaysian government officials early Wednesday as saying they were in talks with Oriental Land Company over the placement of a new amusement park in the Southeast Asian nation. Oriental Land Company owns and operates Disney's Tokyo theme park. But Disney officials said Wednesday that Oriental Land Company has no authority to speak-or deal for-the company on issues outside of Japan. A bulletin issued by Disney reported as follows: "There are no existing discussions in Malaysia and we currently have no plans for a Disney-branded resort development in that country. Oriental Land Company, which owns and operates Tokyo Disney Resort as our licensee, is a valued partner; however, they have no role in evaluating or negotiating other opportunities for Disney outside of Japan." (MJ) "

Guess we'll all have to wait until tomorrow!!

Sounds like an "official" announcement of the Pirates and Princesses hard ticket event.

Oh yikes! I REALLY hope that is not the announcement. That would be a huge let down!
What kind of an announcement is that?! They already have a Christmas and Halloween Party where you have to pay an extra $40 in addition to the $60 you already paid for one day at one of their theme parks.
I really hope Disney doesn't think that speding $100 on theme park admission is our idea of "Dreaming Big".

...By the way, my mother heard about that Malaysia park on CNN....And believe me, that's no big dream of mine either.

:sad2:

This is all very interesting. All these guesses. What will it be. I can't wait till tomorrow to find out what it is. I'm not a real good waiter either. I really hope it's great.

I know! The suspense is killing me!

Does anyone know what time this press event will take place? Will it be aired? Hm, I wonder if they'll air it on a podcast or something.
