Major airlines waive change fees for March and April travel

Delta told me last night that the travel had to be booked and travel ended by one year from the original issue date. Sounds like maybe I got incorrect information? Any help would be appreciated.

You are probably correct if you called and asked. I was going off of something I read on a message board - I should have put that in the original post.

Speaking of Delta...their phone lines are currently down due to the volume. I tried to make changes this morning but they still wanted to charge me $400 after saying the fee would be waived. So I called at 9am to get on a waiting list. Going on 10 hours now and no luck. Called back and got the generic “our systems are down” message. Understandable but frustrating when I can simply do it online had their fees calculated correctly.

I guess I can cancel altogether and they’ll issue me some sort of travel voucher good for a year. That may be my only option at this point.

I got through to a person at Delta today, but their systems were indeed down so there was nothing the agent could do to help me. I feel bad for all these employees at travel-related companies fielding these calls. Can't be a fun job.

I called them in the middle of the night since they are open 24 7. Maybe I just got lucky to get through before the wave of calls.

Talked to American today. They advised they will be cancelling many flight to/from Rome and Milan. Those direct to Charlotte and I believe she mentioned Phillly. So within a week, cancellations of flights should be coming. I’m to wait until those come and then call to check on my late July flight. FYI.
