Majestic Gardens

Has anyone stayed here? What are your thoughts?

They have their own shuttle, is it reliable?

Haven't stayed myself but the distance and paying for parking so far is a turn off for me. We used to stay farther and take shuttles or drive but honestly closer within walking is so much better than waiting for a shuttle. It is as reliable as it can be with traffic in my experience though.

We stayed there frequently when it was the Sheraton Anaheim. Rooms are older, but large. Bathrooms are small, but there is/was a side table right outside the bathroom door that held all our toiletries. We rarely used the shuttles (which are private and roomy -- never so crowded that we had to wait for the next one) since we prefer to walk to/from the parks. Distance wasn't too far for us (we like walking) -- about 20 minutes or so. And the walk takes you right by the crosswalk to the M&F tram, in case you decide not to walk all the way. All that said, we haven't stayed since the property changed management so I don't know how things are currently.

We have stayed there and really liked it. There was a special that included Breakfast and Parking. The shuttle was very reliable and the drivers were very friendly.

My DD and I stayed in Sept 2015. It was great and the shuttles were very reliable. We also had the package that included breakfast, free parking and free internet. Our room was large and comfortable and the breakfast buffet was good.

We are planning a trip for Sept 2017 and are considering staying there again.

I've stayed there 3 times in the past year or so. The rooms are a little outdated (bathrooms mainly), but clean and nice. I've gotten the package with breakfast and free parking and one without those. It seems like they offer one or the other at different times of the year. It's quiet even though it's a big hotel.

The shuttles are nice. The buses themselves are older, but they are usually very reliable about the timing. The only "issue" is in the morning on the first shuttles. They sometimes start earlier than they say they will, depending on the amount of people. Same thing at night, when everyone is leaving. But other than that, they stick to their schedule.

Overall, I enjoy staying there, especially when I'm trying to watch the budget.

I was considering this place as well as their rates are good but then I read their reviews about how outdated their rooms were and I read one review about **** roaches on tripadvisor.com and decided against it. I selected the Doubletree by hilton Anaheim Orange. They also have a shuttle which leaves every 30 minutes. I found a really good rate on hilton.com and they also have good rates on getawaytoday.com.

Just looking for someplace to stay with character and this place seemed like it had promise of this. Very excited for our D23 Expo/DL trip and want to not be let down. Perhaps they've upgraded? Any other affordable, pet friendly good neighbor hotels with character and charm to recommend? Thanks!

They have standard rooms, deluxe rooms and premium castle rooms that have been renovated. I'll be staying either in a deluxe or a premium in mid October.

All of which have been renovated? If so, awesome. I know the castle rooms isn't a necessity for us as we don't have children. Just a Golden Retriever!

From what I can tell there are castle rooms that look more like a castle and one's that are simply in the castle and don't have a castle themed interior design. Also, I didn't want breakfast or need parking so I found the best rate on Cheaptickets using their 18% coupon.

The higher priced rooms are renovated, cheaper ones have not. I stayed in an older room and it was decent...there are lots of other options though.

It was much better when it was the Sheraton Anaheim. We would stay there quite a bit. But since it's changed over to Majestic Garden it has fallen off. We had a bad experience the last time we were there and just gave up on the place.

I've read that so much lately in several sources . It's pretty much why we stick to Wyndham properties , HOJO or across the street now.

I have to say it's a shame. We stayed at the Sheraton Anaheim probably 5 times a year for several years but they have really fallen off. Since then we have tried a number of different hotels around town, some good, some bad. The Hotel Indigo has probably been the best but their rates can be pretty high sometimes.

After reading your review, I am wondering if I should cross Majestic Garden off my list. I just reread TripAdvisor reviews as well as DisneyTouristBlog and it seems like most people like it. Was your bad experience with your room and/or with the staff or another issue. Thank you Tarheelalum.

We'll it was not really just one bad experience. We kind of had a few but the last visit was just so bad we gave up. We loved the place because we could bring our boxer with us there without a pet fee with AAA. Back then our boxer got sick whenever we put him in a kennel at home but he had no issues at the Disneyland kennel during the day. So we needed a pet friendly hotel and the Sheraton Anaheim was the best all around choice.

Then the Sheraton Anaheim became the Majestic Garden. But even before it became the Majestic Garden, half the hotel was under constant construction. When it was the Sheraton, the front desk would always put us far away from the construction. But when it changed over to the Majestic Garden we would always get stuck in a hallway that was under construction.

The last time we ever stayed there the construction was really bad. Probably to the point where it was illegal to lodge people. They had wires hanging out of the ceiling, carpet half pulled up in the hallway and the sound of power tools all day long and particles/dust/ god knows what floating in the air. To top it off our AC was not working very well and it was hot.

So I called the front desk about it and they said sorry but we are booked and we cannot change your room. So I walk over to the front desk to speak with someone about it and as I'm in line waiting at the front desk I overheard one of the employees telling a customer that they many rooms available. That didn't sit well at all with me. And they refused to switch my room.

To top it off we had booked a room that had free breakfast for 2 every morning but it takes my wife forever to get ready so I would just go eat by myself and bring her an apple and danish back to the room. Well one day one of the wait staff saw me leaving with the apple and danish and he acted like I was stealing the silverware. I told him it was for my wife and I gave him the pass for her to eat but he wasn't having it. I could see if I was taking a lot if food but it was literally and 1 apple and 1 danish and I paid extra for the room so both of us could eat breakfast there in the morning.

When we checked out of the hotel I asked to speak with the manager about it and other issues we had during our stay. The manager ultimately blamed me for not coming to him about the situation. I told him I was not going take time out of my vacation to stand in line at the front desk for 10 minutes just to tell him we were never coming back to his hotel again.

That pretty much is why I have not been back since and I wouldn't recommend anyone else go there either.

Considering the age of the building, particles likely contained asbestos :headache:
