This has probably been asked and answered in the past - but why do you think there is such a wide discrepancy in maintainence fees? I would think the older resorts would be higher but then OKW is so low. New SSR is also low...WLV surprised me that it was so high since it shares the WL theme pool etc.

Just wondered what the thoughts were on this...

OKW does not have interior hallways or many elevators to maintain. They probably have about the same number of front desk staff as the others but many more rooms to spread the cost over. Until this year, they did not have lifeguards.

Some of the resorts are also going to have more services and amenities that cost money. Over time, the extra pullouts will be more costly than the OKW setup. Plus, don't expect SSR to stay as low as it is now. Note that HH is also one of the cheaper dues.

SSR and OKW also have more members/points paying in to cover some of the costs that are more or less fixed. While they need "more" of some things (housekeepers, etc.) the front desks seem to be about the same, other fixed costs are probably about the same as the other resorts. Something that costs $100 split by two people is a hefty $50 per person. If you can split it with 10 people it's only $10 each. ;)

Those extra amenities cost money. Also, the resorts with interior hallways, which have to be cooled, also tend to cost more, not only the cooling costs but also the costs for electrical, ductwork, walls and flooring.

Yes, and I'm sure they could lower the MF if they'd turn down that darn A/C at the VWL! Man it's cold when you go in there! :cold:
