I would like to take an hour or so just exploring and taking in the sights and sounds of Main Street during my visit to DL in October. What are your favorite things to watch or do when you're hanging out on Main Street?

I love watching the jazz band at the firehouse. I'm not sure if they still have the same bari sax player as when I went, but that guy is awesome!

Dapper Dans! :cloud9:

I just really love it all though. It's definitely my favorite area out of both parks! I love to just stroll down the street slowly and take it all in. I love the smells and how stinkin cute it all is. The details are where it's at for me at dland! I love looking up at Walt's place and thinking about what it would have been like to get to see the park when it opened, and actually be here when he was here! I have this little book from the 60's that I got at a garage sale and it has what Mainstreet and the rest of dland used to look like. I just love it!

Dapper Dans, for sure! In October, they are particularly awesome, because they sing Halloween-themed songs like "This Is Halloween" from Nightmare Before Christmas. I'm not a huge fan of that movie, but the song sounds awesome when performed barbershop-style!

I love talking to the CMs on Main Street, they often have some fun history tidbits to share. And it's also fun to take pics of the small details on the windows, etc. It's just a magical little spot!

Definitely will need to catch Dapper Dans. Am wondering if there's a website that posts the times guides for Disneyland that I can reference to get an idea when the shows are.

Here is what I found...hope you can follow it :
Go to the offical Disney Site and the Park Hours and Schedule (click on the link below) now look at the left handside of the screen... In the "Display Location" check Disneyland Park only....now check "Park Atmosphere Entertainment"
It will list the time for Dapper Dan-Disneyland Band-Farley the Fiddler-Royal Street Bachelores-Main Street Piano Player-The Straw Hatters

I like to sit on that old bench on the porch on MS after fireworks and watch all the tired faces shuffling out with dead weight sleeping children!

That worked perfectly!! Thank you so much! I've been at that page numerous times but just didn't pay attention to the left hand bar with the microscopic font size :lmao:

Another voice chiming in to say the Dapper Dans are NOT to be missed... :)

Besides strolling down Main St. soaking up the sights, sound, smells (it's such amazing atmosphere!), our FAVORITE thing to is grab some corndogs and Cokes from the Little Red Wagon at the end of Main St. and grab a seat on one of the benches lining Main St. to eat and people watch. The corndogs are sheer fried nirvana and I really love listening to the music and seeing the crowds and vehicles go by and balloon vendors go by.

The corndog from the Little Red Wagon is on my plans for lunch! :thumbsup2

My DS loves riding all the different trolleys, old cars and horse drawn carriages down main street.

What are the routes for the various main street vehicles? Do they go all the way up to the castle and circle the hub?

The loading areas are in front of the train station and by the statue of Walt and Mickey. Each ride is one way. Each type of vehicle has a different location in that loading area. There are signs that denote which type of vehicle you are waiting for. The trip is one way but we rode back and forth multiple times. Getting out of one vehicle then getting in the next line and loading onto another.

My DS favorite was the double decker bus. We were on top. Gives a really different vantage point for Main Street.

I have never sen the Dapper Dans but will have to this time.

Re: Nightmare Before Christmas...I'm going to make myself watch it before we go at Christmas. I'm assuming I don't want my four year old to watch it--what did you think?
Thanks,
Kerri

When you get your corndog, go across the street to the seating area at the Coke Plaza.
There is a piano, sit in the shade and if it is 1:00 (currently) without notice the Mad Hatter and Alice and Wonderland
will show up and organize a game of Musical Chairs. It is a half hour of improve and jokes.

It is different every day and the time may move back to 2:30 in October.
(Ask at City Hall or the information booth at the Adventureland entrance).
Here are a couple of examples.

You never know who will join in...... Here is Princess Jasmine playing games and telling jokes!!!

We caught this quite by accident and it was awesome!! Dd had been looking for the Hatter and got to play with him and Alice with only a few other kids. Definitely check this out.
