Do we go straight there first thing when we get in to MK? Is it first come first served or do we go there and make an appointment for later? What time does the Barber Shop open?
Thanks!!

Went in May for DS first haircut...No appointments are accepted, I believe. We waited about 15 minutes for 4 people in front of us to finish up...Bring your camera! Enjoy! :wave2:

We went there around 9:00 and there was no wait. DD got a princess hairstyle with the pixie dust. She got so many compliments in the park and everyone wanted to know how I did it. I fessed up and gave the Barber Shop credit but you should have seen the looks on their faces. They all thought the place was fake and just for show. Needless to say they said they were going to pay a visit on their way out.

Michael is wonderful ! Hope he is still there - haven't been in a couple years but both my sons (now 11 & 7) have had their hair cut by him numerous times! It's great!

shoot - not on my digital camera :(
I know others do, though...I've seen 'em.

We did DD's first haircut there in May of this year. It was SOOOO sweet.
The two ladies were there - don't remember names (Ginger??).

They did the haircut - which was awesome - and then sprinkled pixie dust and gave us lots of photo ops with the mickey ears backwards and then forward. (I tipped her well after all that!) :)

When you walk in, stay all the way to the left - it's back in a little corner to the left of mainstreet. VERY easy to miss - I had to ask two employees before I found it!

There were three people in front of us - we waited maybe fifteen minutes. Not much room to wait inside, though - but there's a nice bench outside for people to wait at.

Yes, Michal is still there. Did you know he's been there the longest - I think he said 7/8 years.

This is a tradition with us, the kids always get their haircuts there. The kids love it, it's not expensive at all, and they have so much fun collecting pixie dust! Plus they love the attention they get when they're out and about.

FYI for those needing the info: The barbershop is open 7 days a week, 9am-5pm. Walk-ins only, first come first serve. There are only 2 barbers, so the wait might be long. First thing in the morning, noon, or during the 3pm parade is the best time to go.

Haircuts are $17 for adults, $14 for kids, color and pixie dust included. Tips are allowed and appreciated.

THANKS everyone...this is exactly the information I was looking for! I have seen some of the pics and I know my son will love this! Can they actually shave the shape of a Mickey head in the hair...or is it always just done with colored gel?

How much do they charge? DS7 needs a haircut, maybe I'll just wait and have his done there?

etwinchester (or anyone else):
you mentioned that your DD had the princess hairstyle and the gel/dust. Was the hairstyle included in the $5 fee or was that extra? I thought I would have to style DDs hair first (which I'm not good at) and then they would simply gel/dust it for $5. I would rather they style it for me and then add gel/dust.
Any info. would be appreciated.
Thanks
Suzy

I never have understood the appeal of the barbershop. When I'm at WDW, I have too little time to get a haircut, or rather my son's hair cut (no hair on my head) :D. To each their own.

This may require a different thread, but do they do the pixie dusting in the Grand Floridian salon as well?

I'm really glad for this thread. We walked right in last year (it was in the afternoon) with no wait! My son's loved this service! They kept their mickey gel in for 2 days. The laundry service must have really loved us, there were big blue and red marks on the boys pillowcases.

Anyway, its a must do this year. We don't leave for 3 weeks and my boys hair is out of control but, we are waiting.

Thank you to the poster who mentioned the best times to go, 9, 12 or 3. I really would love to just waltz in again! :cool1:

I am having trouble deciding when to go. But, I guess I will just play it by ear. We will be in MK just after lunchtime the first day (a Wed.) so, I will peek in then. The next day we are in MK is Friday (will be there for early entry so, maybe we can be first in after hitting Buzz about 6 times, Pooh and Philliharmagic). That will probably be the best bet. We could get haircuts then ride the train over to Toontown for the 10 am rope drop. Wow, I'm formulating this plan as I write and I am just so impressed with myself! I think that plan will do just fine!

I read somewhere that pixie dusting at the barber shop is free. Is that true? Also, what exactly is pixie dust? Is it just glitter sprinkled in? Does it get all over the place? I think my DD would love to get some pixie dust! Jennifer

The barber shop will also dust hair for FREE.

In hot humid weather the gel takes forever to dry. Sweaty head makes for wet gel YUCK

I got gelled and dusted last week without thinking about the humidity factor. Sorry no pics here.

Wore the gel and dust home the next day too and spread magic from disney to home, some of the dust fell out in my luggage as I unpacked. It dropped on the floor in the furniture I will be finding magic a long time.

What fell off in the bed I swept off on the floor beside the bed and what was on pillow I took to where ever I wanted the dust to shake it off.

One morning DH woke to a mickey on a certain part of his body that he always thought was magical. hehehehe

Ok - it's on mainstreet. If we enter mainstreet and head toward the castle. Is it on the left or right side? How far up? Easy to spot?

Thanks! ::MinnieMo
