Hello all,
I had read somewhere that instead of taking her daughter to the $$$$ Biddidy Bobbidy Boutique, one woman brought her daughter to the Main Street Barber and for only $5.00, they gave the little girl an "up-do" hairstyle, foils and tinkerbell confetti or something like that. Does anyone else know if that is true? I'd like to consider taking my daughter (age 9) to get her hair done (she loves that!) but the BBB is waaay too $$ and time consuming considering all the boys will have to wait  . Any ideas? Thanks!

There's picture floating around somewhere on here. I'm not sure of the prices. But, the pictures from the barber show more of a "fun" style - bright colored ribbons, colored gel, etc. The pictures from BBB are Very Princessy - think wedding hairdos, very soft looking. And - if your DH is going along the boys could go and get a cut at the barber while your daugter does BBB. Or they could go on rides...

Yeah, the barber shop puts some pink and blue gel in with some mickey/tinkerbelle confetti for like $10-15 I think. Its just more of a "fun little thing" rather than an "experience" If your girls don't really care, and would probably get a kick out of anything done fun with their hairstyle, I think this would be great. And you can take dad and the boys (if you have boys) too so theirs no sibling jealousy.

We took DS to get his haircut in January--he had been waiting for months (and his hair was starting to drive me nuts ;) ). We had to wait about an HOUR in line at the Barber Shop. There were 3 or 4 girls ahead of us, none got their haircut, just styled. There were also 2 little boys ahead of us that got cuts. I wish they had a better system--like reservations/appointments. There are so few experiences that are just for boys at WDW, I thought the Barber Shop would be one. I guess I was wrong.

So yes, they do offer girl styles, but I wouldn't depend on it to be a faster alternative.

The price is now $7.50 but they do an awesome job, even better than BBB in my opinion. An updo, colored gel and confetti. If you bring your own little tiara they could put that on too. My girls got so many complements.

We will be doing this on our next trip. My dd6 did BBB last summer. Although it was a wonderful experience, it's not something we plan on doing this next trip. I did see a little girl who went to the Barbershop and she looked wonderful. I was amazed at how inexpensive it was and how good she looked. I actually knew nothing about the Barbershop updos until I saw this little girl. I asked her mommy how she liked the BBB and she told me all about the Barbershop. I'd say get there early or during parade time.

We got this done for $7.50. We go first thing in the morning, there gets to be quite a wait!

Warning: the glitter gets everywhere!:rotfl:

but we did this with our girls in March. We went late in the afternoon (about 4:15 and got updos...no colored gel...lots of pixie dust! The girls loved it. Looked as good at BBB to me! At that time during peak season we had no wait. Also had son's hair cut by Penny -- she did a fabulous job.

The updo was a ponytail low on the head, then braided and pinned up. She used hairspray to get the ends stick up and slightly curl...then lots of confetti sprayed in too.

One of my girls left the style in overnight and wore it again the next day...she loved being the princess!

well worth the money...and even a short wait should you have one.

Yes they do. I don't have pictures but we saw a boy with his hair gelled up and pixie dust in it. They also put a mickey head on the back of his head with colored gel. It was so cute!

We did this in Jan for our DD9. She got the "updo", color gel, glitter and she had bought a crown at DTD like the ones they use in BBB. They put that in her hair also and she just loved it. MUCH CHEAPER and reasonable. I just cant go that price for BBB!!

Did anyone see any little ones getting a 'do? My youngest dd will be 2 and she would feel so left out if big sis got it done and she didn't. She does well with getting her hair cut here at home, so I think she'd sit still for them to put something in her hair.

Oh they do baby's first haircut there too, so they are used to little ones. They give them stickers and toys to play with so I think your two year old would be fine.

Thanks so much for sharing your pictures! I never would have known about this little gem if not for you guys!

Odd question- what about long haired boys?

We're taking my DS16m for babies first hair cut and the girls might have the up-dos (daughters are 10 and 4) but my 5 year old son is a long haired boy... obviously he's not going to want an up-do LOL but you can't really stencil onto shoulder length hair either... anyone know what (if anything) they do for long haired boys?

Here is a photo of my daughter getting her hair done. It really was $5.00 & she LOVED the whole experience. We ended up waiting an hour & I asked my girls (the other girl got a hair cut too, so it was more $) if this was a must do for next year. They both agreed that the hour we waited was nothing compared to how wonderful it was.

Ok, I feel really stupid for asking...

I know that adults can't dress up, but will they do the updo and Tink confetti for the 31 year old kid in me? If not, I suppose I could buy some glitter ribbons and such and do my own funky updo (which I did a lot when I used to go out on the weekends before DS was conceived) but would the Barber Shop do me up too?

Maybe it sounds crazy, but hey, I still do hippie pig tails too.... :rotfl:
