Did I read right.. is it possible to use a CS instead of a snack credit at the Main Street Bakery ? Are there any other places you can do that ? We're thinking of taking the dining plan but we really dont like any of the counter food and dont wanna waste time sitting down to eat several times a day.

You don't like ANY counter food? Anywhere?

I mean, I guess if you want to use the counter services at other places you can - but I don't see what the difference is going to the bakery for a pastry versus going to Pecos Bills and getting something to go. (or a turkey leg)

There's a lot on the plan for counter service. I just wouldn't be wasting the counter service credit - which is valued around $20 if you plan right - for a $4 snack, kwim?

We usually plan to get counter service on parade nights and shows like Fantasmic, IllumiNations, and Wishes. We eat a big, sit down lunch around 2pm, then get counter service while we wait for something to start. That way we can be in position and get a good spot for the event and still have a nice meal.

You are allowed to get 2 bakery items and one drink when you use a CS at the Main Street Bakery. The same is true at the bakery in France and Norway. In Norway or France, you can get one savory item, one sweet item and a drink for one CS.

This forum is awesome.. I bought 3 different guides to Disney and this forum is so much more helpful. :bounce:

Momof4girls - I dont eat meat and most of the times counter service is hot dogs, burgers, that kind of stuff.. Also we have planned a buffet meal in one TS place almost every day so eating another meal on top of it would really be too much food for us. But we'll try Pinocchio though, cause it looks fun :rotfl:

Thanks again so much for the lighting fast answers to my MANY questions!!

Wow.. can you really get $20 worth in a CS meal ?

$13.99 for the ribs and 1/2 chicken plate at Cosmic Rays
Carrot Cake (don't remember the price)
Soda (don't remember the price)

With tax, the whole meal was around $20. It was so much food, my bf and I split the meal and couldn't finish everything.

Several of the CS places have vegetarian options. Check the menus at Allears.net. We often share a “normal” CS and then share a "bakery" CS to use our CS credits. The timing of these vary based on our dinner time.

Hiya! We found last year that many CS places have veggie burgers but they're not on the menu. So be sure to ask at any CS place and you'd be surprised!!

Columbia Harbour House is a good choice for vegetarians - they have a Lighthouse Sandwich which is very good, a Garden Galley Salad or Vegetarian Chili or, if you eat fish, they have a delicious tuna sandwich.

ILVPOOH - You are allowed to get 2 bakery items and one drink when you use a CS at the Main Street Bakery.

Wow! That's great. Is that all the time though or was it just for free dining? hope it's a permanent thing!

We used our snack credit at the bakery. The items are labeled with a DDP sticker.

At the Boardwalk bakery, breakfast was either the breakfast sandwich or burrito and a drink. We were not allowed a dessert.

Lunch or dinner was a sandwich, dessert and drink.

Ask if you want to do something different and the CM might accomodate you. One night the DW didn't want a baked good but wanted a second choclate milk. The CM didn't know if she could do it since no one had ever turned down the dessert and asked for a second drink. She charged me for a dessert and gave me the milk.

I read a lot about people sharing their meals because there is so much food. I guess my question is, if you are on the DDP, why does it matter if you don't clean your plate?

I can't see my DH sharing a plate with me. He isn't a big eater and neither am I. I just know he will say, "we have already paid for the food, just order what you want and if you don't eat it, who cares!"

Does anyone else have that philosphy?? It seems that so many people say they have credits left over because they shared. Is it worth sharing?

This is our first trip with the DDP (not free).

If you share then you can stretch out the Counter Service meals and use some credits for another meal (breakfast.) This is beneficial since you only get two meals a day on the basic plan.

We love the dining plan and find that it really stretches out the food budget.

We have done it twice. We paid for it the first time and we just got back from our second trip and we got it "free."

I had two bakery items (breakfast sandwich and French toast loaf) and a drink at Main Street Bakery in May. It's not just a free dining period thing.

As for the $20 counter service meal, at Sunshine Seasons, I had soup and a chicken caesar salad, a large drink, and a dessert that came to about $20 after taxes and it cost me one CS credit. I was surprised at how much it came to- and how much food it was. I probably shouldn't have had dessert, but seriously- like I'm supposed to say no to a raspberry bavarian?

Keeping my fingers crossed that they have the yummy Tomato Buffalo Mozzarella Sandwich with Basil when we get there in 21 days! :thumbsup2
If so, can I get that plus another baked item and a drink with one CS credit? I'm SO there!
