Main Street Bakery closing at WDW

This is good news! The coffee at WDW has been horrible for years (Nescapoop is right!). The theming at the DCA cafe is beautifully done, and they still have the cinnamon rolls. Let's wait and see before we panic!

I haven't read any article that says that they are keeping MSB food anywhere. I have read it will be serving Starbucks coffees and snacks. If they were planning to keep any of MSB food, like their famous cinnamon rolls, you would think they would be stating that loud and clear, but they are not. The food just keeps getting worse and worse at WDW. I can walk to Starbucks any day.

How about the answer to the first comment posted on the blog article

Hi Amy, yes there will be a selection of Disney favorites that you’ve enjoyed at the bakery over the years.

OMG, that's terrible! I'm so sad to hear that. The main street bakery is such a quintessential part of Walt Disney World, I relate that to main street. I hope that this is just an integration. The pastries at Starbucks are kept way too long past their best before date and often are stale. No more glorious bakery smells coming from main street, that's so sad.

Just think how much more expensive it would be without corporate sponsorships. Most people wouldn't be able to afford even one trip in a lifetime.

All I said was that I sad about the idea of losing the bakery on Main St. :confused3 Plus sad because of a big change in our finances we wouldn't be able to go back. One way or another as expensive as DW is with or without corporate sponsorship's my guess is many people will never experience a trip in their lifetime. DW is pricing themselves out of the budget of the average middle class family. Sad. And, no not just DW so is many other amusement parks. So no need to jump on me about my comments.

Wow. People need to calm down. They are not going to turn it completely into a Starbucks. Yes they will start serving Starbucks coffee and some Starbucks food items. But if you read the Disney Blogs post the theming will remain the same. If I remember correctly it will become a blend of the MSB and Starbucks. Kinda like what they did at DCA, though I can't remember the name of the location.

How do you know?
Personally, I think the hysterics and criticism is well justified. Disney does have a history of laying so rather large eggs. Can anyone say the mess that is now DTD?

Now the reality is that there isn't a darn thing I can do about it but sorry there is nothing magical or special about starbucks. I for one was glad they got rid of Mcdonalds in both Ak and DTD.

LOL. I'm waiting for the monorail and disney buses to start selling advertising space.

To me, the difference between having McDonalds in the back of AK or at the International Showcase in Epcot, and Starbucks on Main Street is what Main Street is supposed to be. It's a throwback to an earlier era, the small towns that Walt remembered. Starbucks was never part of that. I do hope they will keep the theming, and not add a huge Starbucks logo. (I'd have no problem if they put it in Future World or even Fantasyland.)

Hysterics over coffee in a theme park is never justified. Ever. And for the record, Disney has a long history of corporate sponsorships. This is nothing new, even for MSB - it had a Nestle logo right on the sign.

I was through with the Main Street Bakery after they stopped selling french toast loaf.

The Starbucks coffee will bring me back.

Geez, I wasn't jumping on you. I was just pointing out that, without corporate sponsorships, Disney would never be able to support their theme parks without setting admission prices well out of the reach of pretty much everyone on the planet. It wasn't meant as an attack or anything - just a statement of fact.

Reading this has made me thirsty, I'm putting the kettle on, coffee and cake anyone?:coffee:

When all is said and done I don't think it will be a big deal. I think most people won't even notice it is a Starbucks from the outside and it seems like there will still be many if not all of our Main Street Bakery favorites. I'm going to just wait and see before I think about complaining about it.

Wow..voice of reason. :thumbsup2 Why get so up in arms over something before you even see the final result?

And with that said I have been to WDW many times and I have never walked into the bakery, I'm not even sure I know where it is on Main Street since I usually just walk down it to get to other areas of the park. I do know my kids will be thrilled with being able to get their Starbucks fix on site rather than driving off property to get it.

There will be one in Future World, where the ice cream shop is now.

*let the wailing commence*

Well, that really bothers me because I get ice cream there like once every 4 years.

If they turn that ice cream shop into a Starbucks I'll, I'll, I'll, well, I guess I'll get coffee.

There's an ice cream shop in Future World???

I should complain to Disney about them replacing an ice cream shop I didn't even know was there with a Starbucks.

The Starbucks location at DCA has an ice cream stand adjacent to it. Don't panic yet.

I doubt it'll be a straight up Starbucks. Personally, I think it'll be nice to get a decent coffee there. I say decent because Starbucks is no Dunks. ;)

Yup. :) Fountainview something or other. In all my trips, I've never been in it. :rotfl:

I think it probably makes good business sense. I was at a hotel recently that has its own coffee shop inside. The coffee is excellent. And yet, most people troop outside in all sorts of weather to go to the Starbucks down the street.

I'd guess that they will sell a LOT more coffee (which is hugely profitable) and bakery items by converting to a Starbucks because people who would not otherwise buy at the MSB, will buy at a Starbucks.
