Looking for tips/strategies for riding one of the Main Street Vehicles down Main Street, U.S.A., at MK at park opening. I have not taken one of them on any of my trips and I want to try this time. I assume they may not run over the holidays due to the park crowds.

If they are running where specifically do we go to get on them and which side of the tunnel under the railroad should we enter. Any tips would be welcome.

Thank you :)

We had an early breakfast reservation and when we entered the park (left tunnel) the man driving the fire truck stopped us and asked us if we wanted a lift to the castle. Funny thing was my wife had just commented she would like to ride in it lol.

Very cool. Nice that you got a ride to breakfast, I take it you were the only ones on the ride :cool1:
We don't have ressies so will be entering the park at rope drop, hope we are lucky to get on. We'll enter thru the left tunnel.

When DH and I went in September 2010, as soon as the park opened we went upstairs to the top of the railroad station. After the train left, I asked a CM to take a close picture of Walt's window for me. The CM centered it perfectly and I got a great picture. After we looked at some of the antiques, we went back down to the main level. A tram with the Barbershop quartet picked us up and drove down main street with us. We were the only people on the tram, celebrating our anniversary, and they sang us love songs. This was the first time I went to WDW without a camcorder, and regretted it immediately. Just be patient, and you will be able to get a ride down main street. Ours was incredible!!!

Maybe a weird question here but is it free ??? I've always wondered why not so many people were riding them so I assumed there was a price for their services, anyone can confirm this ???

The Main Street vehicles are free. Most people don't ride them because its simply faster to walk.

Same thing happened to us. It was pretty magical to see DD first reaction to seeing the castle. We were the only ones in the truck. It was a great experience!

Is there a special spot to wait? I would love for us to ride one of them:) Thanks

For the trolly/streetcar, one waits between the Main Street train station and the statue of Mickey and Walt. There's a small sign that says something about waiting here.

My husband and I rode the trolley for the first time on our "Babymoon" in October. A CM took a lot of really nice pictures, and tons of people waved at us as we were riding up to the castle. I can't wait to take the kids on it in January!
