Main Pool VS. Quiet Pool

I have a question about the pools at the resorts. I know that there are quiet pools at SSR but I have never really gotten a clear understanding of them. Are children not allowed in them? I am assuming they are just for swimming and relaxing...(no horse play, splashing, screaming, etc.) Can anyone help?

We have been to SSR several times but have not used the pools due to cooler weather. Any help would be appreciated as we are preparing for another trip "home" next week. My children are really looking forward to going into the main pool! Thanks! :wave2:

They aren't quiet pools, they are quieter pools. Non themed. Certainly children are allowed, use them, and particpate in horseplay. I'm not sure Disney uses the term "quiet pool" anymore - they seem to be calling them "community pools" now.

To me, the only differences are no lifeguarda and no slide. As crisi says, children are certainly welcome.

Best wishes -

We really enjoyed the "quiet pool" in Congress Park at SSR, there was hardly anyone around. Usually just one or 2 other families. There is also a great playground there and the laundry room. It also has an awesome view of DTD.

Okay, I didn't mean SILENT, :rotfl: I just meant that it is was a calmer, more quiet atmosphere with no slides, minimal splashing, screaming and running around. I just want to be sure that we won't be disturbing others if we went to a "community pool" and some of that was occurring.

No lifeguards at the quite pools? This seems like it would be a hugh liability issue for Disney!

No more so than your typical motel/hotel chain that posts big signs at their pools saying no lifeguard is on duty and enter at your own risk. The quiet pool at VWL is the same way: the occasional CM may stroll through, but I've yet to see a lifeguard on duty there during my trips.

Have to agree no slides but by no means quiet. We go when we want the kids to unwind witout the slide and all the mobs. This seems to be what alot of families do so they are not very quite and sometimes very busy.

The 'quiet pools' are definitely 'quieter'. Our kids always come with us to these pools but we do tell them that the more wild splashing around, or playing is for the 'themed' pool. Kids have always felt welcome but we made sure that they were not boisterous there. Swim and spend time with the family but respect those guests who are at the pool for swimming lengths etc.

As well, even though no lifeguards, CM's (I can only speak about OKW and BWV's) are definitely around and checking to make sure everything is fine. Have noticed that they watch for glass/food/drink near to the pool deck and are often by to check the water chemicals etc
