Main Building at GF and noise.

I am considering staying in the Main Building at the Grand Floridian next time we stay at WDW. I am wondering about the noise level? In the evenings there were lots of people in the lobby - is is loud in your rooms? Is staying in the main building better that lagoon view? If so, why?

We booked main bldg for our stay this fall, seems like a great location and very convenient, Im hoping its not loud, everything Ive read has been very positive....I dont think you can go wrong. hoping to hear good news on this post!

We never heard anything. We stayed Main building Concierge. Our room wasn't directly above lobby though, so I may not be the best opinion. There is a band that plays there in the evenings (2nd floor). I found it soothing. The Concierge lounge overlooks lobby and it was never very noisy. Hope it helps.

The main building is home to concierge, honeymoon and suites. There are no standard rooms located here. If you look through some of the GF information, you might notice the intitials RPC. This stands for Royal Palm Club, which is the full concierge service found in the main building. You've probably seen by the rates, that it is much more expensive than a lagoon view room, but it does come with a high level of service in addition to a private lounge which offers various snacks and meal items throughout the day.

As for noise, we've stayed on the 4th floor a few times. Once we were across from the lounge (the interior balcony overlooks the main lobby) and we could hear very little noise once our door was shut. We may have heard the orchestra playing very faintly. Another room was in the wing overlooking the marina and castle. Very quiet area, but a little more of a walk to the main elevators and lounge. Most recently, we were on the 5th floor in a turret room and again, had absolutely no noise issue.
