We don't tip our mailman. Heck, we never see the mailman!!!!

My parents were telling me today that they got a Christmas card from their mailman and in it he wrote "Any gratuity would be appreciated".

He wouldn't be getting one from me, especially if he asked for it.

Wow, if my mailman did that, he would get nothing:scared1:

When we had home delivery I gave the mail carrier a card with cash and he brought it back kept the card but said they were not allowed to keep cash

WOw, what an honest person:goodvibes

If my mail lady did a lousy job and didn't go above and beyond I would not be tipping her. I used to give our old mailman, who was single, a large box of home made cookies every year because being alone he had no one to bake for him.

That was very nice of ya:goodvibes

Don't you remember Joe, our regular mailman back home when you were growing up?

Yes, I remember him why.

I remmener in the summer, giving him a glass of lemondate or ice water in a plastic cup. Then, we would tell him to just toss it over our fence when he was done his run and we would get it later:goodvibes

Oh, I get it...You were saying Joe was the one you used to bake cookies for each year.

I am a little slow:rotfl2:

No way I would tip someone who gets paid fair wages with benefits for doing there Job....

& if They do there Job poorly....Guess what they still get paid...

I tip well ...but only to those who actually work for tips...& get paid less to do so!!!

:goodvibes

So in reality those who are giving their mail carrier cash tips are putting them at risk of losing their jobs.

My parents were telling me today that they got a Christmas card from their mailman and in it he wrote "Any gratuity would be appreciated".

We got a card from our paper lady last year that said, "Don't forget to tip your carrier. Please send all Christmas tips to (and then listed her address)."
She was new last year and we had always tipped the person before her. She got nothing.

I always used to get a box of chocolates around $15.00 and then I was talking to my Aunt who is mail carrier and she was saying how much candy they get each year. I've since been getting a $20.00 gift card (usually from Best Buy) for our mail carrier just to change it up a little for him!

cookies and a thank you card for Christmas. And often a cold bottle of water on hot days in the summer. He is a saint, my mailman, and we love him! :)

No, my mailman doesn't get anything. He is already paid for the job he does, and it is not a tipping position.

Also, if I ever received a card from my mailman with the slightest hint of a suggestion of a tip, I'd report him/her to the Postmaster, ASAP.

Nope, I don't consider it a tipped position, and evidently neither does the USPS.

saying that postal carriers were not allowed to accept cash gifts..not that I ever would, but.....
our mail carrier is a wonderful lady..our mail is always on time, if packages are too big for the lock parcel box, she leaves them on our front porch..or leaves a note that she will deliver it at the end of her route..I always make her a goodie bag, with fudge, homemade cookies, etc...along with a card, and she always puts a thank you card in our box the very next day

We give 20.00 now, our last mailman got more because he was around forever and we really liked him.
We give the same to the garbagemen. The poland spring guy gets 10.00.

I'd tip or give him a gift, if he deserved one.

Our regular guy sits in his truck most of the day, reading the magazines he's supposed to be delivering, and I'm lucky to get my mail by 4 pm. The people who cover on Monday (regular guy's day off) deliver everything before noon.

When regular guy is on vacation, we get no mail service. Then when he comes back, we get a notice that their is too much mail to fit in our box and we need to come pick it up.

No tips will be coming from me any time soon.

the whole "it's against the law" thing is enough to stop me, but even if it wasn't, I don't know that I'd be tipping someone whose salary is higher than mine.

Oh man, that is so tacky. I would not have given anything to her either
If you knew how bad our mail service is.... :scared:

I guess he or her is not getting a tip then:rotfl:
