I'm wondering if any experienced DisneyWorld vacationers can give me some tips on mailing home souvenires. Knowing my wife and kids I'm going to have plenty of souvenirs to pack unless I can find a way to ship them home.

thanks

We always buy "most" of our souvenirs at the same place (usually World of Disney in Downtown Disney or the large store in Epcot- can't remember the name- in Future World in the center). Then, when they are ringing us up, we have them ship the package home. Rather than paying tax on the purchase, we just pay shipping since it is going out of state. It usually only comes to a few dollars more and this way, Disney packs and ships it, rather than us having to carry it or ship it ourselves. Since I usually do one big purchase, rather than buy at lots of different stores it works for us. We usually do it toward the end our trip after we have seen a bunch of stores and know what we want. If there is a single item we want here and there, we just buy it and put it in our suitcase, but most of our stuff is sent through Disney. I love shopping that way and the kids don't really miss the stuff and get a great surprise a few days after we get home!

My father purchased lots and lots of souveniers while on vacation. He said that you can just have the store you pruchase the gifts in send everything home. He also said you can have the gift shop in your hotel send stuff home also. A friend of our who we were traveling did have kind of a hard time sending stuff home because it was opened. She wanted to send home some big stuff that her son had been playing with and they gaave her a hard time because it was not in the original box and she did not have the receipts for it. They also would only let her send stuff purchase in the World home and would not let her send home anything purchased at Sea World. She was very upset and spoke with the manager and as soon as she mentioned she was traveling with 16 others who spent thousands of dollars just in the hotel, they let her mail anything she wanted home. Just try to make sure you have your receipts or send them right from the shop!
