We're leaving in a little less than 2 wks and I'm really considering mailing a box of stuff down rather than check a bag. I'm thinking it may be easier in the long run. So here's a list of things I'm thinking of sending down in one big box. My dd is 2 1/2 mos old and ds is 4 yrs:

Diapers for baby (40 pack)-enough for 8 days?
big container of wipes
swim diapers
sunscreen (for ds, baby will be too little)
hats (some floppy hats, one warm hat for baby, baseball hats)
My Pal Mickey
Tylenol (for kids)
Ibuprofen (for myself)
fruit snacks (a treat ds only gets when on vacation)
A & D ointment
shorts (we won't need them here)
Crocs (for myself and ds)

Anything I'm forgetting that would be easier to send? DD is nursing so no need for formula . . .

I'm thinking that by sending it we will have less to worry about to/from airport. I'm planning on only bringing one carry on per person.

How about ordering your baby supplies from someone like diapers.com? They ship for free is you order more than $49 and have a $10 coupon online (I think) right now....have it shipped to hotel and the rest you can pack in your suitcase? We're thinking of doing that for our trip in 6 weeks....heard good things about them.:goodvibes

Well, I looked into that and you have to order a huge amount of diapers to get the free shipping. And with dd being only 2 mos I'm hesitant to get the size she needs for the trip in such a large quantity. She's growing so quickly. Plus we use cloth at home so they probablly only get used occasionally once at home.

I'm also trying to avoid checking a bag so I'll be putting other stuff in the box I'm sending as well.

Just out of curiousity, why don't you want to check a bag? It's seems like a pricey package to mail, IMO...if you were going for a shorter time I could see carrying on everything but where you're going for over a week?? You probably know how many diapers your baby goes through in a day more than any of us DISers, when we brought our DS his first time (he was almost 3 months old), we had more thaan enough wiith one pack of diapers- I think he was a size 2 at the time- but we weren't down for a week either. The nice thing is that even if you run out of supplies, you can replenish at the baby centers in the parks, or in the resort shops as well.

Well, it will be me, my dm, ds, and dd going on this trip. The less we have to deal with the better-especially with a baby and 4 year old along. It'll cost $15 each way to check, so I figure that by spending the same amount of money to send a box that'll be less to deal with at the airport at least.

That's what I was guessing- we're a SW family so we don't pay for the bags...although I think we did one trip because we had 4 bags, the car seat base, carseat and stroller. Are you pumping at all? I made the mistake of not bringing the pump on our first trip because I figured it was only for 4 days- I'd just nurse, but at the time I wasn't good at nursing anywhere but in the chair at home...but as far as supplies, I'd say what you have should be enough (maybe a bigger pack of wipes). What about sending some bottled water too? That's always nice to have around.

PS- we're going to be there the same time as you!!!

I'm pretty good at nursing where ever. I work at home (home daycare) so I've gotten pretty good about nursing discreetly just about anywhere-outside, on the floor, at the children's museum, at the park, etc. So no pumping here.

I thought about the bottled water too. My thing is that I ALWAYS over pack. Always. So I'm trying to go light this time. We're going to bring about 4 days worth of clothes and do laundry half way through our trip.

I've also thought about the grocery delivery service, but if I do that I'll still have to check a bag with all our other stuff I'll be bringing. So trying to eliminate checking a bag-I dont' want the hassle of hauling it through the airport. Although with ME it's not a huge hassle.

Oh, decisions, decisions.

We do this when we go and it works SO well!

We send

diapers (I would do more than 40, though - aim for 50 at least! When my DS was that young, we were going through a pack of 40 in less than a week!)
wipes (I would do 2 packs and then a small carrying case for the parks. Wipes are good for the 4 year olds hands/face, too!
snacks - we are sending raisins, fruit snacks, granola and cereal bars, cracker snackers, and those water flavoring packets for a special treat
toiletries
hats
shoes
ziploc baggies (the freezer sized ones) (for wet/dirty clothes at the parks...either by diaper blowouts or your son dancing in a fountain!)
bottle brush
dish soap
little toys for the kids in case they get bored - mainly hot wheels and bubbles

I'd bring/send more diapers. 40 definitely wouldn't have been enough for my DD when she was that young.

I also think it might get pretty expensive to ship all that. Could you just check one bag with your kids' stuff?

I was thinking 40 may not be enough. We use cloth now and just wash every other day so I really don't have a good idea how many sposies she'll go through. I'm going to take about 10 in my carry on so it'll be 50 total. Maybe I'll buy another pack just to be certain I have enough.

I'm going to pack a bag today (the one I'd check at the airport) and see how it looks. If I can get most everything into it maybe I'll just check a bag.

All this planning is making me nutso!!:headache:
