As things seem to go, I just saw Maid in Manhatten last night. I dont know if it was just because I had heard so much about it or if it was really not that good a movie but my dh and I almost turned it off 3 times because we couldn't get into it. We did wind up finishing it and it did get a little better.

Dontcha just HATE it when people build up a movie for you, making you think it's going to be the best movie EVER???

Whenever that happens, I'm always disappointed.

However, I hadn't heard a peep about Maid in Manhattan before renting it, so I had no expectations - and I LOVED it. Was a little slow at times, but cute nonetheless.

Funny how that works.

I was the opposite with this movie. I expected to hate it, but I liked it. I was surprised that J Lo is not a half bad actress, and Ralph Fiennes is always amazing. Somewhat predictable, of course, but I thought it was cute.

I'm another person that didn't expect to like this movie but I did. I thought JLo did a good job which surprised me. Overall I thought the movie was cute.

Haven't seen Maid in Manhatten yet...but I do want my time back for Sweet Home Alambama. I remember being so bummed because I couldn't see it in the theatres!

I would have liked it better if J-Lo would have been in a skimpy French maid outfit . It would have a least spiced it up a bit:p

DH and I just finished watching this movie. I was neutral on whether I would like it and DH kind of rolled his eyes when I picked it out, but we both thought it was very cute. And the little boy was ADORABLE! :)

I thought it was kind of cute, but I liked The Wedding Planner better.

I am a J.Lo fan and was looking forward to this movie. I thought it was ok -- not wonderful, but enjoyable enough. I also went and see 2 Weeks Notice with Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant. I am not a Hugh Grant fan, so I wasn't sure I'd like this one but I thought it was great! The 2 of them just had a terrific chemistry!

DD and I watched it last night while the boys did James Bond. DD fell asleep - lol! I thought it was cute, ok, glad I rented and didn't go to movies to see. It was basically another "Cinderella" rendition. I thought it could have been so much better if they had fleshed out the plot more. What was all the political stuff about, I didn't get that? Especially when he left her when they were dancing and said "I know what I need to do now". Am I being dense? Funny thing was DD skipped a scene on the DVD player and I didn't even notice until I realized it was the dancing maid scene from the trailer. I thought J.Lo is a decent actress and RF is FINE! The little boy was adorable.

Its funny that you mentioned Sweet Home Alabama. My DS and I went to see both of these. He has music lessons on Friday night and we usually go see whatever is playing at the bargain movie afterward. He had been looking forward to S-H-A, but really didn't care about going to see M-I-M. Half way through S-H-A he leans over and tells me " this is so bogus" He had been looking forward to that movie so much he had gotten is guitar teacher to teach him the song. When we saw M-I-M he really didn't care if we went or not and half way through this movie he tells me how much he is enjoying it. Go figure....

I rented the DVD last night and watched it. I love Ralph Fiennes!! And who was that adorable little boy?
I probably would have been disappointed if I'd have paid to see it in a theatre, but as a rental it was ok.

I liked it too.

I am also in shock that JLo just keeps getting more and more beautiful every time I see her. That woman has really come into her own. Maybe Ben has something to do with it, but she just glows! ;)
