Mai-Tai lovers at Aulani: try this tip

I LOVE this tip and hope that this deal is still viable in about 10 years, when I can finally make it to Aulani :)

As soon as I saw the Heading of your post "Mai-Tai's" I had to read... :thumbsup2 We are having our 1st ever trip to Hawaii in Sept. Spending a week on Maui and a week at Kona on my cousin's timeshare. Then going to Aulani for several days. We don't normally drink, but this is a 39th Wedding Anniv trip so... time to start.. :cool1: If anyone has any other suggestions about Aulani (or the other islands) we'd appreciate it. This may be the one-and-only time we make it to Hawaii.

Thanks!
Suggestions for Hawaii...Maui-you will never want to leave! It is such a great island and there are so many different things to do. The only thing I have not done is the Road to Hana. Dinner at The Plantation House @ Sunset is not to be missed. Make sure you make a reservation and tell them it is your anniversary and you want a table (only seats 2) on the balconies. They have the greatest set-up and you have an amazing Sunset view! Just came back in Feb and the whales are amazing but don't think you will have them still there in September. :sad2: Maui Ocean Center is great, too. If you are daring, bike down after watching the sunrise @ Haleakala (take lots of warmth for the sunrise) I could go on...

Kona-I was watching Alton Brown doing a show about chocolate and he went to the Hawaiian Chocolate Factory (http://www.ohcf.us/tours.html) and I know it will be a must see for us next time we are on the Big Island. You might want to check it out. And of course Volcano Nat Park.
Other than that enjoy the ocean, go snorkeling, swimming, or anything having to do with the ocean. But then I am an ocean girl from way back. I have lots of links and information, if you want it. Just let me know!
And maybe I will have to put together a trip report for our Aulani stay in August! Mai Tai's here we come:cloud9:

Sue: We did the Road to Hana, even though I believe we were violating the provisions of our rental car agreement. The road gets pretty dicey at times, but was worth doing it once.

We are at Aulani right now. Tried out this tip last night. $4. Yummy Mai Tais.
Thanks! :cool1:

So who's up to having Mai-Tais next week?? :)

I will be there in july with 3 teenagers for 14 days. Definately worth a trip for a nice dinner and a drink! Thanks!

Three teenagers for 14 days is going to require more than a drink...you may want to inquire about ordering Mai-Tai's by the pitcher.

Snacky, You sound like the kind of fellow DVC'er I could hang with. Plus you've got a great logo in your signature.

Have great Day.:cool1:

Great tip...thank you. Are appetizers served as well? Reasonably priced?

We just completed a 7 night stay at Aulani, and are just reading your tip as we sit here in the Honolulu aiport. As they say, timing is everything. (In this case, bad timing.)

There are appetizers available...if I remember the price was about $6-8 (after a few $4 Mai-Tai's those little numbers on the menu get kind of fuzzy)
