Here's a good one. I have had bad knees for years, and have just recently started wearing a brace on my right knee that uses magnetic therapy. Don't know what kind of luck people have with these things, but it works great for me. Until I visit WDW.... Seems thet since the brace is on my right knee, and I carry my wallet with my Florida residents seasonal pass in my right pants pocket, the magnets are wiping the info from my ticket! I have had to replace my ticket 3 times in the last month and a half. On our last trip earlier in November, it happened again. So, when we go back in December, my first order of business will be to replace the ticket once again and start carrying it in my left pocket. Ever hear of such a thing? If you wear magnets anywhere on your person, it may happen to you.

My husband was teaching about magnets at school and didn't realize that he had wiped out all his card numbers until he tried to use them. All he did was lean over them ,but his wallet was close so away they went.Make sure never to get close to any magnets with your cards.

If they affect your tickets, I'd also expect them to affect your credit cards - assuming you carry them in the same place. Had trouble with that?

Watching an episode of "myth busters" they proved that the myth that magnets wipe your cards was infact false!!!!!

seems strange though that the ticket seemed to be effected :confused3

If you're wearing magnets on your knee strong enough to have an effect on something at your buttocks, I'd worry what else the magnets might be affecting...

Not so sure on that.

, I put my AP on the refrigerator with a magnet so I would always know where it was. My next time at the park, I put it through the slot and the CM said it wasn't registering at all. She thought that odd until I told her where I had been keeping it. She said the magent had 'decoded' all the info on the black strip on the paper pass. Had no problem getting a new one and my AP now is in a much better safer place!

if it's false why do they tell you not to put them certain places that are magnitized ???

anyway op thanks for the warning & hope it helps your knees (i know it does help horses who are not really open to placebo effect like people are :goodvibes )

While it may be false that it "demagnetizes" your cards - it DOES mess up the magnetic coding.

I have played with tickets and magnets / cell phones quite a bit, and it really doesn't take a whole lot to mess up the tickets if you start getting them close to magnets.

I would believe that it demagnetizes everything. I have a brace on my leg right now and just traveled to England where I set off every alarm going in and out of every store etc. It was actually pretty comical after awhile!

SOme cards may be more likely to be affected by magnets than others, the data recorded may be "of a higher density" say to be more voluminous.

Generally cards will not demagnetize one another if they are placed front to back, front to back, in your wallet. Except I think you need to be careful that a paper Disney ticket is not placed behind a plastic card with a wide magnetic strip without a business card in between.

OT: I question the value of magnetic therapy.

I also questioned the benefits of magnetic therapy, and in fact thought the idea was ridiculous, but with the problems I have with my knees, I was willing to try anything, and so far, it has been a help to me. No idea why or how, it just does.
Also, my credit cards have NOT been affected.
