Magic's Aft Smoke Stack

Since the fire in March, everything on the Magic seems to be repaired except for the railings that go around the aft funnel. When are these going to be installed? The Magic isn't as asthetically pleasing to look at with the missing raillings since the two funnels don't match. It lacks balance.

A silly little thing, but for our cruise in January, I'd hope they have that fixed by then for all the pictures I'm going to take. The pictures I've seen of people coming back from the Western itinerary have been spectacular, except that rear funnel with the missing railing.

check out the web cam at www.portcanaveral.org , it looks live the aft stack is repaired.

Hopkins....you have a good eye....I took that picture and I did not even notice about the aft funnel.

I have to say that it did not detract from my vacation at all...obviously because I had not noticed it!!!!! But now that you brought it to our attention, you're right, she does not look balanced.

Nice picture... except that rear smoke stack missing railing. lol!!!

I'm going to check out the Port Canaveral cam as she passes by this evening. It will be a much closer shot of the stack.

I agree, she definitely does not look "balanced" with those railings missing. The port cam shot does make it look like it's fixed though. Let us know when you get a closer look, Tina!

And balanced or not, I'd be thrilled to be sailing out on the Magic today!

Fire? Yikes!
This was the first I have heard about a fire. What happened?

Am going on a cruise in 2/03; seven in all, none of us have sailed before. We will be taking a three day cruise to check it out. My sister-in-law is already highly anxious.

As the Magic passed twopalms this afternoon.. did not look as if the rear smoke stack had been repaired and railing replaced... maybe while in dry dock late next summer.

I'm sure that Dave will have the answer to this question. Isn't the Magic scheduled to go out of service this month for maintanance for 3 or 4 days?
Maybe Disney will have the railings replace during that period.

No, the Magic's dry dock is not until September 2003.

Sorry, I don't have an inside track to management. I haven't a clue when they've scheduled the replacement. My guess is since it is cosmetic and not functional, it must require more time than is allowed during their once-weekly port turn-around. I would suppose they are waiting until dry-dock next year.

The last that I read was the Magic is currently scheduled for drydock starting on September 20 and will return sailing with passengers on October 11th, so it will be much more extensive than 3 or 4 days.

Actually, I believe "She" has an Eastern cruise scheduled for September 20-27, 2003 and then is not scheduled to sail again until a Western cruise on October 11, 2003.

That would put dry dock sometime between September 27- October 11, 2003.
