Magicbands from 2013 ...

Sorry if this has been asked before but I had trouble finding a definitive answer . We have magic bands from our last trip and bought 1 day MK tickets for our upcoming trip (staying offsite) . Are our tickets automatically linked to the magic bands we have from 2013 ?

I forgot to write that we purchased our tickets on the WDW website while we were logged in to our MDE account .

Are the bands showing in your MDE account? Going from memory even if you bought the tickets while logged in you still had to link them to an individual if they weren't part of a package.

Whether or not they will work is another question regardless of whether the tickets are linked or not. The batteries are said to last about 2 years but there is a lot of variance in those batteries so a band from 2103 could very well be dead at this point.

This is very much an it depends questions.

Are the tickets showing up in your MDE account until My Reservations? If so then any magic band that is linke to the account should work. I say should because it is possible the magicband has been damaged in the last 2 years. The battery really won't matter because that is only for long range transmission. As long as the band is functional and not broken it will work for short range transmission even if the battery is dead. The Magicband does need to be showing up on your MDE account under Magicbands and cards and needs to be active.

So they should work. They may not work for auto-upload of ride photos and videos or at Be Our Guest though. That is what the long range transmitter/ battery is for.

So , just to make sure I have this right ...lol...I don't have to link ours tickets to our bands ...they are automatically linked already , right ?

Yep they are automatically linked. Think of your Magicband as an access card to your MDE account. As long as everything is linked to the same MDE profile (so your tickets and MB to you and your travel parties to their MDE) then you are all set. If there is only one MDE account just make sure the ticket name and the MB name match as it should show what ticket and what MB is linked to who.
