I'm sorry if this has been asked/answered elsewhere, but I couldn't find it:

If you are wearing a Magicband and driving from your Disney resort to a park, can you use your Magicband at the parking lot gates to access the free parking for WDW resort guests, or do you still need to have that resort-issued parking pass in the windshield?

Still need the resort issued parking pass -- at least as of a couple of weeks ago. That makes sense to me since the parking attendants don't have a way of "reading" your Magicband.

Thanks. :thumbsup2 I thought I read somewhere that they were about to give RFID readers to the parking lot gate attendants, but I guess that hasn't been done yet. If it has been done by the time we go in a few weeks, I'll post about it.

That would be great. Thanks!

Paper last week,

Bet it is a lot faster to read the paper.
I never did get my band to work at resort other than to the attendant. The second lane I couldn't get anything to read, room key or band.
I really did not care or the band, they are extremely sweaty, don't waste money on the jibbetz they fall out less than an hour, and readers take so much longer then the touch of a room key to pay for items.

If you have old room key tickets, do not attach them to the band or use the band to get in the park! I was told he two day free dining was left on the room key, and added the left over park hoppers To the new band...the system used up my two days first, then started on the hoppers!!!

It was a disaster getting my two days back on a ticket, plus it's saying exp in 12/2013%#&@ :(

We had the paper parking pass, but on entering resorts POR-R and AKL-K, and OKW , they read my magic band for ID instead of me showing them my room key or drivers license.

The resort parking gates have had "readers" for many years, so I think the change to read a magic band wasn't that huge of a technological improvement. It's at the major themeparks that they haven't traditionally had a mechanical reader -- rather, CMs look to see if you have a pass on your dash or they take your money.

Just got back a few days ago. Fortunately they still used the paper parking pass for the windshields, and parking lot entry at the booths was the same as previous: they just waived us through when they saw the pass.

As for returning to the resort, I could normally have used my magicband to open the gate, but the magicband was a little problematic (the gate was fine because my wife's MB opened it okay), so I just used the RFID card they gave me as a backup to open the gate.
