Does anyone know who is getting chosen for the MagicBand testing? Is it DVC members, AP holders, castmembers, etc.? I was told it was not open to the public yet, and only certain resorts were participating.

I think the first MB test was Contemporary and AKl cash only guests. The 2nd round of testing was only the DVC guests at BLT and AKV.
I think all current testing involves DVC and cash at most resorts. I think the All Stars are the only ones wih no MB testing so far.

We will be staying at BWV next month, and I haven't heard anything. I guess it is not one of the resorts chosen.

I believe the AKV - Jambo house and perhaps BCV are the current testing. I've not heard of the next resorts to be tested but reports are that each resort will have testing prior to it opening up for all.

We are staying at AKV Jambo House Oct 13-19th... I went on the MyDisney Experience site just to look at some info and such and..."BAM"... I was able to make Fast Pass+ selections and such...as well as add ticket info and get Magic Bands and personalize them. I was amazed that it was just available.... I never got the email invite or such from Disney like others did. I was able to add my AKV reservations, my dining reservations... and choose 3 FastPasses per day per park for my wife and I. Then i was able to link my DVC membership as well. I encountered no problems with any updates. I am a big planner so having passes for Splash Mountain/Kali rapids/ Toy Story mania... and many more attractions is fantastic. The fastPass+ even lets you choose many windows of time for the attractions.

We got a phone call last week informing us we were testers. (AKL Jambo next week)

I doubt that it's AP holders yet. The system doesn't seem ready to accommodate AP's. I had purchased our AP's on the phone prior to our trip this past week and had a wc number to get them when we arrived. This was a big problem because of some problem with the My Disney Experience app. It took about half an hour to get it straightened out. I didn't mind, and they gave us fastpasses because it took so long. This was the day after we had checked in to our resort. When we returned to the resort that night, our room key cards no longer worked. Our whole reservation had been cancelled and had to be redone. Both of the cast members who helped us with all this told me NOT to link our AP's in MDE because the system can't accommodate them yet. We were at BCV and we talked to several people staying at YC who were wearing the bracelets, and they all seemed pleased with how they are working. I'm hoping that by next August when we visit and use our AP's again all the kinks will be worked out and we can have the bracelets too!

I was there Aug 18-23rd. We stayed 1 night at pop century. Got the bands. The activated our PAP in the 19th. I had l ready linked the voucher for the PAP to MDE. Our bands worked fine with the AP on them and we have nothing else for admission. Our bands are our passes until Aug 19th 2014

The actual invites are not being sent until about 17 days prior to arrival.

For us, I was allowed to select my FP+ and customize my bands once I did online check-in. I received my magic bands last Tuesday. On Wednesday I received the email inviting me to participate and last Friday I received a letter via UPS. I guess that thanks to the DIS I was a bit ahead of Disney. :rotfl:

Ok so here is my thing. Lets say with this next round of tests, I found out that we can do it by accident and never revived a invite, you don't get a KTTW card. How would you pay at a sit down. I am also wondering how they are going to handle my CA issued (that's what MDE called it) premier pass since we don't have anything like this out here at Disneyland. Well anyway I am excited to get my Blue Magicband. I can't wait to see it in the mail. Oh and cause we have a split stay we are getting two sets if bands cause we have a 4 night cruise in the Dream in the middle of the trip. So we have two different reservations. So will I need both bands or will one do? Should be fun and interesting.

Wow, a phone call! I'm going to AKV-Jambo on Saturday, and my invite came in letter form, UPS, a couple weeks ago. That same day, I selected my Magic Band on the website, and got it 5 days later, also UPS. And some people are getting invited by Email. I think it's interesting to note that invitations are coming in a variety of forms and with differing lead times. I wonder how all that's decided.

First on our trip even though we had the bands, we also had a KTTW card as well. But our Annual pass was not on the room key (I actually never tried) it was on our band. You don't have to get 2 sets of bands. One band is good for years. We are reusing ours when we go in December. You can have one deactivated as a keepsake if you want, but we are keeping ours until they break or the battery wears out but it should last for a few years.

As for paying at a sit down, the servers have a device ( kinda looks like an iPhone wrapped in a huge battery case) that can read your band.

I know! I thought it was weird too but I'll take it.

I got an email, a letter by UPS, all after I had already stumbled across it on the website lol. I already had our bands before I even got the invite! Also, we are AP holders and have had no problems linking.
Staying at BCV 9/11-9/17

We have BCV reservations for October (10/17-10/28) and AP vouchers which we have not activated. I thought we'd be out of luck in terms of preplanning FP+ but I saw on another DIS board how to link an AP voucher to MDE. So, for the fun of it, I went into our account and saw the "customize band options" and scanned our AP vouchers into the MDE app. I was then able to use the website to get our FP+.

We have received no official information or invite - so I would suggest just trying and see what happens.
