Magicband question when canceling reservation…

I made a reservation through Disney’s site for a Wilderness Lodge vacation with tickets & memory maker. After some time I did some research & saw I could book a less expensive stay by renting DVC points to Copper Creek. I linked my Copper Creek trip in MDE but havnt canceled the original trip yet. I ordered magicbands on the new reservation. Can i still order magicbands on the original WL reservation, and then cancel the trip & still be able to use them when we go to Copper creek?

magicband is linked to the account, not to a hotel reservation. it should not matter if you cancel the resort later or not

Now that you pay for MBs, even when ordering with a resort stay discount, you can order for both reservations, pay for both sets of bands, and have two MBs for each person to use interchangeably. As above, they're not linked to a specific resort stay - the resort reservation simply allows you to order them at a discount. Lots of people have several different MBs that they switch out and wear to match different outfits, their mood, etc.

Just a point here, but wait until at least July 27th to order Magicbands if you can. They should be adding the new Magicband Plus options at a discount either that day or around that time. This new generation of Magicbands releases on July 27th, so it may be worthwhile to wait a few days because of that.

Won’t they charge you for the delta between the discount and the rate you paid? When you order it states that they will charge you. I need to remove my husband from part of a split stay - concerned that they will charge me a fee - or worse, cancel his magic band all together (they have not shipped yet)

I have never had that actually happen after they shipped them, but be prepared to pay the difference just in case. What the official policy is and what happens in practice are sometimes two different things, so just be prepared for the possibility they may enforce the official policy, but be appreciative if they don't. The difference is only about $10(US) per band, so it's not a massive difference.
