I don't know where to post this, so I apologize in advance if I should post it elsewhere.

Have the moderators thought about creating a magicband/fastpass+ forum so that this forum can go back to attractions and strategies? It feels like almost every thread (I know I'm exaggerating a bit) is about how to use magicbands or fastpass+.

(Granted, I don't know what this would entail or the moderating work involved, but I thought I would throw it out there...)

I tried creating a thread for all the questions about MyMagic+ but it hasn't really stopped the influx of them; I doubt a new forum will do any different. Most people don't look past TPA&S words on the homepage.

Perhaps a sticky at least. That way we can direct new people to the sticky and not have to rehash everything in every thread.

I have it on good authority that they're thinking about talking about it...again.

Giving the Dining Plan a forum/board of it's own didn't keep Dining Plan talk out of the Restaurant forum either though....

Well, it might make some more work for the mods, but at least all the threads could be relocated to the new sub-forum

It would be wonderful if the board would do this. The questions are going to continue, and that's understandable. Making answers easier to access would be so helpful!

Totally agree. It's taken over the attractions board. Big Time.
Maybe a sticky would work for now.
:listen:

I would appreciate a sticky. Right now I'm so overwhelmed with the number of posts I can't keep up.

This will get locked soon, but last time the idea came up they said they weren't considering doing anything.

Frankly, I don't see how it would help anything.

For those interested in Magic Bands/FP+ issues, there will probably still be just as many threads to sort through.

For those not interested in such threads, I would recommend just not opening any of them in the current forum. The title of the thread almost always tells us what the thread is about.

Right now there are so many posts that you don't know what's what. If there was one place with verified info it would be helpful. It seems the info is more "this what happened to me"

Well, individual forums (or sub-forums) help keep topics to one area.

There are new folks coming for MB information every day, and I believe this will continue for quite a few months. The way it is right now can be very confusing, especially if you have a specific question.

Putting all the magicband info in one area would be a huge help, IMO.

The problem with one big thread is that it is impossible to search for one specific question. Sifting through 2,000 pages is not something easily done...and frankly, most people really don't have the time... However, a sticky with all the updated pertinent information on the top page is ingenious! :thumbsup2

Subforums are also places where active threads to go die. Much fewer users look to subforums than the main one, as such, while the concentration of information may be higher, the distribution of said information will be far lower.

Added to that that the FP+ frenzy is likely a temporary thing. Once the system is up and running and the dust settles, the threads will switch back to focusing on FP(+ or not) strategies, which have lived in this forum for at least the ~4 years that I've been hanging around. We didn't have a subforum for normal FP so why would one for FP+ make sense? We didn't have one for New Fantasyland when these forums were full of questions and information (and misinformation) about the expansion, and it's since died down.

So, to me, it simply doesn't make sense to pigeonhole them as they are as much (if not more) about attraction strategy and information than most of the threads here.

However, I'm not a mod here, so my opinion means little for this and even less on how message boards in general get run* :). They'll do what they think is best for the boards and FP+ is on their radar (they mentioned it in the last thread).

(As a special note, for all those saying that a subforum would make it easier since all the threads would be in the same place... aren't they in the same place if they're all in the root TPAS forum? :p)

(*Note: Not a slam or critism of the mods in any way shape or form! I know it sounds like it could be one of those griping things that people say "Pfft, I'm not a mod so my opinion means nothing!", but it's absolutely NOT said like that. It's just that my opinion in general shouldn't affect how the mods themselves (each with their own opinions) run the boards to the best of their abilities. I tried to make it sound better a few times, but I gave up and created this overly wordy disclaimer instead.)

This question was asked and answered by the mods, and then the thread closed, a week or so ago. The answer then was No, and if you have a question about board moderation, you're supposed to PM the mods and not bring it to the boards. I assume this post will be closed like the other one on the same topic...

Closing as this question has already been answered .
Questions regarding how the boards operate should be sent to the Moderators by PM.
