Again this report was sent to our family and friends through email. Some of them have no idea what I am talking about so that's why there is probably more detail than if I was writing just for ya'll.
This trip includes:
DH - true Disney addict
DD#1 - 10 (completely dependent in wheelchair)
DD#2 - 5 turns 6 while at DW (completely dependent in wheelchair)
DD#3 - 18 months
Friend#1 (quickly becoming a Disney nut)
Friend#2 (Disney addict)
Friend#3 - 13
Friend#4 - 6
ME - (lovingly referred to as drill sergeant, only when at DW)
I know everyone is wondering if we really went to Disney this last time since I haven't sent a trip report. I am so sorry for keeping those anxious people waiting. I hope that you will find it was worth the wait. It's our hopes that you get to enjoy our trip with us and experience a piece of the magic with us.
Day 1, October 24th, we left the house around 6:00 pm headed for Disney World. This was the start of Michalas 6th birthday trip. Our friends Kim, Keith, Erika and Grace were going with us to help us celebrate. I have to say that each time they go with us it gets better and better. We just work. You know what I mean? Number one they love our girls. I do not think any of them have ever been affected by the looks we receive from having two girls in wheelchairs and one of them without her leg. If you ask them I bet they will tell you they have never notice the looks or stares. Actually I don't think they exist at Disney World. It's just more of the Disney magic and that wonderful pixie dust. Anyway it's great to have them with us. It's nice to walk and not push a wheelchair all the time. Even though I wouldn't trade it for the world. It's nice to be able to ride a ride with my wonderful husband sometimes. It's very nice and actually relaxing to have them watch Michala during her seizures while we step away and take a breath or two. OK so now the truth is out Kim we do get something from ya'll going with us. LOL!!! It goes without saying and they truly know how much they mean to us but it's good to have it in writing. The ride was pretty uneventful except for the potty breaks and the walkie talkies we had going all the time. We arrived at 1:15 AM. We checked into the All Star Music Resort in time for about 4 5 hours sleep.
Day 2, October 25th, we went to Animal Kingdom. We were hoping to see, Wes Palm, the talking palm. This would be our friends first visit to the AK and we wanted them to meet Wes. We checked with guest relations and for some reason Wes wasnt out that morning. We did get to see Terk on our way in and get some pictures with her. We also stopped in front of the Tree of Life for some pictures.
Next we headed for Its Tough To Be A Bug. We all loved that. Grace even got her mom with the bugs crawling out at the end. It was so funny! Next was the Kilamijara Safari. Everyone loved that. The animals were out and about and active. Grace, Mary Elizabeth, and Michala were all asked to be Safari hunters. They were given a pair of binoculars to look for animals and to help our guide. They were all given Magical Moments certificates for helping out.
We went straight to the Lion King Show afterwards. Michala received another Magical Moment certificate there because she was celebrating her birthday. Grace was chosen to be in the show. She did a wonderful job. The show had been revised since we were last there and it was spectacular.
Time for lunch so we stopped off by the Pizzafari for lunch. Wonderful breadsticks! We had never eaten there before and we really like it. They didnt offer anything like mac and cheese or potatoes for the girls but it was still a good place to eat. After lunch it was over to Tarzan Rocks. We had made a CD for Billy and the cast of Tarzan Rocks from our last trip. We were excited to be able to give it to them rather than mail. Once the show started we found out it was a different cast. We still left the CD and letter for the other cast.
We went through Dinoland on the way to the Dinosaur ride. We decided to stop off and ride Primeval Whirl. Mike doesnt like the spinning so he and Keith sat with the girls while the rest of us girls rode. We laughed so hard. When we got off Grace talked Keith into riding it with them. Every time I get on the ride I think I should have taken Michala. That is of course until we start spinning.
I sat with the girls while everyone else rode Dinosaur. Grace got a little scared but wanted to ride it again with me. Kim and Keith sat with the girls so the Mike and I could ride with Erika and Grace. It was lots of fun because Mike and I usually ride those rides separate all the time. So that was neat to ride together and to be able to ride with Erika and Grace.
It was almost time for the parade so we headed over to get a seat. While we were waiting for the parade we enjoyed our very first Mickey ice creams. OH MY!!! They were very good. The parade was wonderful! I love all the character interaction during that parade. So much fun!!!
We had time for one more thing. It was between Rafikis Planet Watch so that Erika could see the veterinarian area and where they house the animals or Kali River Rapids. We chose Rafikis. We were hoping to get to see Stanley out there too. He was already gone in when we got there though. We enjoyed walking through and seeing everything though. We would like to go back during a weekday and hopefully see some of the doctors working.
It was past 5:00 when we headed out. We stopped by the Tree of Life once more. A very nice man offered to take pictures for us. This is a story in itself. We watched the parade with this couple and then went out to Rafiki's with them afterwards. He was very nice to come up and offer to take our picture. That Disney generosity again. On our way out there was Stanley so we got to see him anyway. We were so excited to see him, take pictures with him and get his autograph.
We went straight to the Animal Kingdom to get our friends checked in. Checked on a possible upgrade but no go because it was completely full. I think lots of people with the golf tournament must have stayed there. They had a very nice standard room though even if the view was of the parking lots. Luckily the trees seem to be growing up around there so before long you will have a nice are of foliage to look at. Grace was completely sold when she saw the bunk beds. She loved them!
We didnt have much time before we had to head to supper. We had ressies at Bomas. We loved it once again. I have to say it is very different though. Even though Kim didnt sample the different dishes she did find plenty to eat that she did enjoy. We stopped by the front desk to pick up the hidden Mickey sheets. We walked around the resort for a little, searching for hidden Mickeys. We really love this but it was a little dark to be looking outside for them. We shopped in the gift shop for a bit while Mike downloaded our pictures from the day. Only about 280 for the first day between Kim and I. While we were shopping a very nice CM gave Michala a Magical Moments certificate for her birthday. She was very nice to box it up where it wouldnt get bent. I did not get her name but will be sure to call AKL and ask them who she was. She was very nice.
It was getting late and everyone was getting tired so we headed out. We still had to go check into Old Key West. WOW!!! It was amazing!!! A very generous Disney Vacation Club couple gave Michala a week at the resort for her birthday. We had a studio and had so much room. It was very comfortable. A refrigerator and microwave which was such a blessing. We had heard great things about it but couldnt wait to see for ourselves. Very nice!!! Thank you just isnt enough for how this couple has blessed our family. Not only did they bless us with a weeks stay but with such encouragement and kindness through emails. Thank you so very much!
I checked the pictures before going to bed. I wanted to make sure they were all there before deleting them from our smart cards. Well I had a card with only about 7 pictures on it. I thought I saw those pictures on the computer. For some weird reason I deleted those 7. OH I know it was because it was Kim's card and I was going to give it back to her. Which I still haven't done. Well Mike didn't realize I had put any pictures on that card. Usually I don't have to use it because our other card is big enough to hold a days worth of pictures. I filled it up at the parade and changed out the card. So I deleted the pictures without downloading them. I was sick! I remembered reading on the Disney boards about a website where they tell you how to download them even if you have deleted them. As long as you have not taken pictures over them. Well it worked. Now we just have to figure out how to recover and open them. If anyone knows how to do that and they have time to share that information would you please email me mommie2angels@mindspring.com . Thanks so much!!!
It didnt take us long to get settled in and off to sleep. I am sure we all dreamed of our next magical day.
