Magical Shoes?

After putting a lot of miles on a lot of different shoes in the parks last year I ended up loving my Teva's Hurricane more than anything else.
When I say I've tried every shoe mentioned in this thread, I'm not kidding. Every single brand listed, I've taken it and worn it at Disney.
It's rather absurd how many pairs of shoes I've bought and taken to Disney. Embarrassing actually. From the most expensive to the least. Some are ok but none beat out the Hurricane's, even other Teva
Anyway, these ended up being the shoes that have turned in to THE perfect park shoe, wet or dry, doesn't matter. They are truly my Magical Shoe
Oddly enough, they even enabled me to break my other rule regarding shoes at Disney, I can wear these every day for a 10 day trip and have happy feet. Prior to these, I needed to change shoes each day

Vionics! Both my podiatrist and orthopedic surgeon said they were great. I have high arches that totally collapse and I pronate when standing so the high arch support in them works great for me. My sister found the arch to be too high for her so it really depends on your personal foot structure.
This more than anything, really.

Have you tried the Oofos Oolala? I am like you in that I'm constantly trying to find the perfect Disney Shoe, and I used to be a tennis shoe only girl. But for our trip in Nov, I'm considering switching to flip flops only and want to try some options. I've worn Olukai Ohanas before, and they were pretty good. I will bring those, probably my vionics, and want to try the Oofos. But now I'm considering buying these Tevas too...I'll bring a pair of clarks for a tennis shoe option.

Yep, got them at a Run Disney event and they were ok. Almost too soft actually, for a full day in the parks. I do love them for walking around the room at night. So they go on trips with me. And I may wear them back out at night for shorter trips out. Just didn't like them for day long wear. And not for wet wear either.

That is still the only shoe I can wear right now. My feet were damaged as a result of my accident and these shoes are tolerable which I think says a lot.

How are your feet? I have really high arches and tend to pronate, so based on your comment about them being too soft, I'm curious if we would have the same issues...

I have rather normal arches but I am rather pooh sized so I'm certain that plays a significant part

I also love my Teva Hurricanes but last year discovered that I can't go a full 10-12 mile day without pain. I will always bring them to WDW for soaker rain days and to swap out for the evening if I'm back in my room before dinner, but just not enough cushioning & support for my high arch feet for an entire day. At the end of a full dawn to night day, the bottom of my feet felt like they had been smacked by a board. I wear either Montrail or Merrell low cut, light trail running shoes down on the plane and they give me the support I need. I've learned not to buy the waterproof ones because they don't breathe in the humid Florida weather & lead to blisters. The best thing many of us can do is to break in our shoes on a fast walk every day, around the neighbourhood, for at least 1 full week before the trip. Try to walk for at least 40 mins each time. By 30 mins, you'll know if you want to use precious packing space for them. It will also help to condition you for WDW & maybe even burn a few pounds in anticipation of eating like mad in the parks. :-) I also pack moleskin (with a number of small squares already pre-cut) because despite all my prep work, I still get a few blisters.

This I agree with 100 percent

I am sorry I have to ask how do you guys do it go in flip flops I could never do it maybe it's because I have flat feet but I have to stick to running shoes
If I wear flip flops in the parks, I would wear padded versions such as Nike comfort and then only as a change from my regular shoes. I couldn't wear them all week.

I have to scrunch my toes when wearing most flip-flops or else they fly right off my feet the second I take a step. My toes would be cramped up if I had to do that for more than a few hours. The only flip-flops I've found that I don't need to scrunch my toes on are some cheap thin foam ones that I found at Michael's for $2.50. Not sure if it's the weight of the shoe that is the problem or what. For long walking days I'm usually wearing running shoes.

I have posterior tibial tendonitis (osis?) and my orthopedist wants me to keep wearing my New Balance. That can't happen in hot months and the parks. Anyone have the same problem? I don't want to make it worse!

I'd highly recommend checking out the New Balance Fresh Foam Cruz. It has all the traditional benefits of NB shoes, but with a breathable upper similar to some of the Adidas Boost or Nike Zoom running shoes. I just got a pair a couple weeks ago and I'm almost certain they're going to replace my Nike Elites as my go-to park shoe.

Oh! I'll do that. Mine are solid and heavy. I know I won't want to wear them for all that walking. The important thing as I understand it for me is great ankle support. Any type of shoe (like flip flops) that shift on the feet as you walk or force my toes to grip too much are definitely out.

My girlfriend mentioned the other day that she swears by FitFlops and calls them her "Disney Shoes" because they are the only thing she can wear all day without her feet getting sore. I'm personally a Birkenstock person, but it got me wondering - what other brands do people swear by for WDW walking? Do you have a magical shoe you can't visit WDW without?
Tevas

The first time I went, I brought the trusty pair of flip-flops that I've always worn on dozens of trips to Disneyland. By day two at WDW, I had a rash on the top of my foot under where the cloth straps touched. Never had that issue before, but it became unbearable so I bought a pair of Mickey Crocs. They were more comfortable at first, but then I started getting blisters all over. Spent the rest of the trip covered in moleskin. I know where EVERY first aid station is in each park! lol!

Then our second trip I brought Crocs Sanrah Beveled Circle Sandals and Crocs Sloane Embellished Flip. I wore the Sloane's first because they are my go-to shoes at home - blisters again (damn the Florida humidity!) so I begrudgingly tried the Sanrah's which I swore were going to be worse...

And they were AWESOME! No blisters, nice and comfy cushioned soles. Just amazing.

Wore them on a third trip last August and had no issues. Love those things! But I did learn a valuable lesson, the humidity definitely changes the way your feet react to the same shoes in a different climate.

I have a bad Achilles tendon, which means almost-constant pain on the back and bottom of my heel. I don't want to have surgery because of the 8-week recovery time.
My sister put off that surgery and suffered horribly for over 2 years trying everything under the sun. She finally broke down and had the surgery last month, and is now kicking herself for not doing it earlier.

She used a knee scooter for a week. One week after surgery she got a boot and could put weight on it. Three weeks later (yesterday) the boot came off and she can even drive now. So she only had one real week of total down time. She only had to take pain pills for 2-3 days. She was so dreading this surgery (and she's been thru some major knee surgeries, etc.). I've heard horror stories about how bad it is. But they've changed a lot of the techniques. My sister had an enormous bone spur that had totally torn up the tendon. The key is to get a surgeon who does this all the time and who keeps up to date on the latest techniques.

Good luck.

Chacos! Between foot surgery (last fall) and a broken toe (now) they are my magic shoes...they are also recommended by my orthopedic surgeon so that gives them extra magic IMO!
Do the straps rub your feet raw after wearing all day?
