Thanks to yesterdays break, it was much easier for us to roll out of bed at 7 this morning! Dennis went off by himself to MGM for Star Wars fan day and Rhiannon and I headed to Epcot to make up for what we missed the other day. We had a quick doughnut in the room and we were off to the bus stop. I was looking forward to some alone time with Rhiannon, although I was a bit saddened that I wouldnt get that with Jonathon.
We met a nice mom and two boys on the bus ride to Epcot, talked to them for a while, then waited in line for Epcot. Did I mention that this is one of my favorite things about going on vacation? Meeting people and having conversations with them. Even though I know well never see them again, its such an amazing feeling getting a glimpse of so many peoples lives. I dont know, maybe Im just weird.
After we got through the turnstiles and waited at the rope, a really nice CM from TT spotted Rhiannon in the crowd and gave her a nice Epcot pin. He was really sweet about it and made our day. Right before rope drop a really enthusiastic CM went around talking to the kids in a Mickey voice and kept us all entertained. It was such a better atmosphere than MGM! Mickey and friends came out in a big bus and we counted down from 10 annnnnd we were off! We walked slowly but steadily to TT, not even worrying about the crowds rushing around us, then I grabbed a FP and then we got into standby line since we werent going to be riding anything else. I would have liked to have rode Soarin but Rhiannon hates the simulator rides. M:S was out of the question too, but thats okay I love TT!
We met another nice family in line to TT that we talked to the entire time. TT wasnt up and running for some reason, so we didnt get on it until almost 9:30, but that was okay people kept getting frustrated and leaving the line. The ride was actually running, but they werent letting anybody in. The ride was fabulous, as usual and by the time we finished the ride, our FP return time was up so we went right back on.
After that we moseyed towards WS, taking plenty of rest stops along the way. We waited by the fountains to see some sort of acrobat show, but it never started. We finally wandered over to Mexico and we were among the first in the pyramid. We were the first on El Rio del Tiempo, which was a nice little Small World type of ride. Rhiannon loved it, so I couldnt wait to see her reaction to Small World! The Mexican CMs were so nice there. We wandered around the marketplace and Rhiannon made another pin trade for a Tinkerbell one, and then we left to head to the Friendship to go across the lagoon. Stupid me, I saw Japan and thought it was China, so we got off at the wrong stop in Morocco. It wouldnt have been so bad, but it was just so darn hot by this point that any extra energy we had to expend felt like such a burden. When we got there, we walked over to Germany where we were meeting Dennis for our PS at Biergarten.
Biergarten was really nice, although I didnt like the food that much. They a buffet different German salads (potato, macaroni, cucumber, beet), meats, spaetzle, and desserts. It was the atmosphere that really made the place so great. Our waiter was cute as hell (Robert) and really friendly. He looked like Jason Lee. After our meal, we saw a band that played some polkas and other German music.
After lunch, we booked it over to Japan to see the taiko drums my favorite! I loved them and they were totally worth it.
After Japan, we backtracked to China because Rhiannon really wanted to see it and she ended up running into Mulan & Mushu. We really lucked out there, as no other kids had noticed them yet. Rhiannon was dying for one of those parasols, so she got one of those and I got a fan and a foot massager. We saw Reflections of China (which we had to stand for, bleh), but we didnt stay for the acrobats because it was standing room only and my feet were aching by that point.
Then we moseyed back to Spaceship Earth, stopping for rests along the way. This was our longest day yet, which was pretty tolerable because of the resting. We rode Spaceship Earth one last time and then it started pouring down rain. Made it to the bus stop nice and dry, except Dennis who wasnt wearing a poncho.
I forgot to mention a conversation we had yesterday on our way back from the Contemporary. I was telling Dennis that I wont know what to do with myself when we get home now that I dont have a trip to plan, so he asked me how far in advance you can plan one. I couldnt believe what I was hearing! Dennis and I decided to try to make this an annual trip! So, starting as soon as we get home, were going to reserve another trip for next year, only without Jonathon. It makes me sad that he wont even give it a chance. I think even if he hadnt been sick, he wouldnt have wanted to leave the room to go to the parks with us anyway.
Boma tonight and Ill update afterwards.
Boma was great, as usual. The waitress told us that if we particularly liked something, we could give the chef our e-mail address and hed e-mail us the recipe! We asked for a couple of soups (ginger carrot, chicken curry, & seafood gumbo) and the banana bread pudding. It was waiting for us when we got home holy soap on a rope, do you have any idea how much cream they put in their dishes??? No wonder its so delicious. I doubt Ill make these recipes very often, but itll be a nice surprise once in a while.
After dinner, Dennis tried to go through all our receipts and saw that we spent a good bit more than we thought we did. Wed been double charged in China for my purchases there and a few restaurant charges were messed up, so he took it all down to the front desk and they ended up fixing about $60 worth of charges with no problem at all! The CMs at AKL are just unbelievable. We need to slow down the spending, but even so its not like anybodys going to be deprived.
