There are 13 of us going to The Caribbean Resort (incl. one who uses a cane).

Should we ask for this?

It is also going to be my parents anniversary while we are there..can anyone recommend something special?

From what I understand (I havent experienced this yet, as we are trying to do this for next year) you get special discounts for booking more then 8 people. So far this is what I have read....Again I havent experienced it yet, so I cant help you there..


Grand Gatherings (Groups of 8 or More)
Walt Disney World has created a program called Grand Gatherings, which is designed to provide special opportunities for groups traveling with 8 or more people ages 3 and up. (Babies under 3 can still come along, of course, but aren't counted toward the minimum number of people required to participate.)
Grand Gatherings offers special benefits and one-of-a-kind experiences that may not be available to smaller groups attending Walt Disney World. As part of a Grand Gatherings group you will have the option of booking special events with your group. These include:

International Dinner and IllumiNations Desert Reception

Safari Celebration Dinner

Good Morning Gathering


Magical Fireworks Voyage


A Grand Gatherings group can book one of these special events, or all of them. Experiences will be shared by multiple Grand Gathering parties.
There are also custom events that can be arranged for your group's special needs, including dinner parties, behind-the-scenes tours, group photographs, spa experiences and golf.

Choose your resort hotel. In order to qualify for a Grand Gathering, at least 80% of your group must be staying on Disney property. Guests not staying on property or at a Good Neighbor Hotel cannot participate in Grand Gathering events. You can select one resort or several to suit the individual needs of your group, and you can book the rooms as part of a package or as "room only" reservations.

Use a travel agent. By using a travel agent who specializes in Disney, you can make the most of your money and time, allowing them to coordinate everything for your group. They can also do additional research and bookings for you.

I recently booked our vacation as a grand gathering, and they told me that they would give us our rooms together as well. They weren't guaranteed to be adjacent, but they would all be in the same area.

I recently returned from a magical gathering back in April. There were 10 of us. We did get adjoining rooms all together, but there were no "discounts" off the rooms. All a magical gathering does is secure a block of rooms, and give you access to special tours, dining, etc., for a special price.

The are no discounts for Grand Gatherings. You can get a discount if you book 10 rooms--and they dont have to all be at the same resort just the same time frame (although the days can vary some). This is a Leisure group discount.
We did that back in Oct of 2005 and got some pretty decent discounts. Our group was spread out over AKL, POR, POFQ and Pop.

We had a wonderful grand gathering in January 2007 and had adjoining rooms. As for special things for the Anniversary "A little bird" told the CM's the date before we arrived and Belle & Beast left a signed picture, card and balloons for us that day. We also were announced at Cinderella's Royal Table at dinner(by the Fairy Godmother), received etched champagne flutes (Cinderella's Royal Table emblem) and a certificate declaring our anniversary a "Certified Disney Magical Moment".
The floral shop offers sweet and romantic things like the rose petal turn down
service, candies, unique baskets and bouquets, and many of the dining locations offer to make cakes etc but both need prior notice and are additionally charged. Have a great time~enjoy being with your family~we are doing it again in Sept.
