Hello! First of all, our church group had a great time on the bus and in the parks!
We had a terrible experience with the our reservations at All Star Movie Resorts. Our trip was booked through Disney's own Group and Leisure Sales. We arrived after riding all night on a charter bus at 6AM. The hotel was supposed to be informed of our early arrival and we where supposed to get our room keys at that time even if the rooms were not ready.
When we arrived, promptly at 6AM!!!, there was one desk clerk working. She didn't know anything about our arrival, in fact, she couldn't answer one question I asked her! There was no one there to help with luggage(we were told our luggage would be stored in a room-it was stored in trailers parked out front in the heat all day!). I couldn't begin the process of checking in until 7AM. Never mind that part of our group had reservations for Chef Mickey's at 7AM. The staff was not the least bit concerned-not at all what I was expecting from Disney! I missed the character breakfast and had to send my husband with the girls instead while I tried to straighen things out. No one helped us with our luggage, we had to load everything up, which was fine, but I had not been told that luggage assistance would be extra. We could not get our room keys as promised and one our members had trouble getting into the Magic Kingdom early because she didn't have her room key(proof she was staying on site). It was a mess! I finally arrived at the Magic Kingdom around 8:30.
As I said, the parks and the cast members were great! We had a great time!
When it came time to check out, we had problems again! One of our couples had rented a refrig. which was paid for ahead of time. I had to run up to the front desk twice on the day we checked out to straighten it out. The couple was told that you could not pay for a refrig. ahead of time. Thank goodness I had the receipt where it had been paid for. I had to do this twice. We started on a bad note and ended on a bad note.
I am in the process of drafting a letter to several people at Disney's Leisure Group and Sales to voice our displeasure over the way things were handled. I like doing business in person and I even expressed my wariness over doing things over the phone and internet. I am a very organized person and it took 5 months from beginning to end to plan this trip. We had a total of 70 people and 23 rooms reserved. I never expected to have these kinds of problems dealing with Disney. As far as the cast members go at the resort, we felt like we were the first group that had ever booked! Not friendly at all!
This trip didn't kill my zest for Disney, thank goodness! My husband and daughter and I are planning to go back in December.
Hope others have had better experiences than we did!!!!!!
