Just back from the 11/16 Wonder and had a "Wonderful" Time. Our first night in the cabin we received a letter from Guest Services stating we were chosen out of 2219 guest to be the Magical Family of the Cruise. I had never heard of this and wasn't too sure what it meant....but is was cool. Every afternoon, upon returning from our excursions we had snacks in our room, two different nights at turn down services my 2 kids received a stuffed minnie and mickey, both kids received $20 game cards to the arcade, we were invited to attend a private congiere (sp) reception with free drinks!!!, we had a private meeting with "Captain Mickey" and they gave us the pictures for free, and they paid for the 4 of us for the Getaway excursion at Castaway Cay!!! I'm don't mean to sound like I'm bragging! I am just so excited....things like that don't happen to me! Anyone else hear of this?

Wow - that sounds great!

You were very lucky - I don't remember anyone else posting about this!

That had to make your cruise extra special!

one out of 2219!! Those are great odds, I would play 2219 in the lottery this week :teeth:

That is so neat for you!

How cool is that! Just out of curiosity - for you and anyone else who got the Magical family thing - what category were you booked in?

My husband says asks if we are booked in the Irish Immigrant section (think Titanic) since we are category 11 - I went back in March with my sister and I'm trying to tell him we aren't in the section where when the ship goes down they close the doors off.......LOL

Just curious as to if there are certain categories that they choose from?

This is a relatively new thing that Disney is doing. CONGRATULATIONS on being chosen. What an awesome feeling!

It's my understanding that it is completely random as to who gets picked.

WTG, let me in on this....I'll be sailing on 7/31/04...with 3 teenaged DDs....I deserve something!!!!JKJKJKJKJK

Congratulations!! We were on the 11/16-11/20 Wonder as well ... so now I'm jealous ;)

That is wicked cool!! What a great surprise, made your cruise even more magical!

10 or 11 but were upraged to an 8 with AAA guaranteed upgraded....then when we arrived at the terminal, we asked about available upgrades. For $250 (the day before AAA quoted us almost $900 to upgrade to a verandah!! boo them!!!) we moved up to a verandah...not sure but I think cat 7, were in stateroom 7526....great location!!! So we moved around a lot!. We asked our Magical Family Hostess, Merete---great lady!, how they pick and she said it was her first time as a hostess and they just pick someone who looks magical???! Standard answer maybe, might be just random. Our 13 year anniversary was 6 days before the cruise and my daughter turned 7 during the cruise...so maybe that had something to do with it! Oh well....here's some Magical Family dust to spread around to all !!!!!:wizard:

We were Cat 6 on April eastern, seems so long ago! We were playing ping pong on one of the tables by the arcade on the first day out, it was windy, and you know how well those ping pong balls can fly. Well, our 7 year old daughter chased one of the flying balls, and you know those HUGE wooden guard rail things, that are about the same height as a 7 year old's face when they chase a ping pong ball? Yes, connection at full throttle. We were certain she had broken her nose. We shuffled her off to the customer service desk, who in turn notified the docs. No broken bones, just bruising thankfully. After that, our room keys changed color, we got the 'Magical Family' treatment for the rest of the week. To this day, she reminds us of the extra mile she went to get all that 'extra stuff' for us. The extra attention was nice, but a plain old cruise without the drama would have been just as nice.

Wow! Neat for you. I leave Saturday on the Magic....wonder if we look MAGICAL or not?!?!?!

Our first cruise we were chosen as the "Dining Services Family of the Week" - all kinds of evening goodies ensued.

Now that was pretty neat!!!!!

congrats!
