Okay, I'm confused about Magical Express. When we booked and paid for the trip 2 months ago, we chose to take advantage of the Magical Express bus service from Orlando airport to our resort, Port Orleans Riverside.

We just got our trip booklet in the mail a couple of days before Christmas. Our Magical Express from the airport to the resort is listed, but we do not have the "bright yellow luggage tags" for our luggage. They included blue hollogram type tags that have the castle on them.

So, since we are flying Spirit do we not get these tags? I was hoping that once we dropped off our luggage in Detroit when we checked in, that would be the last we would deal with the luggage until we got to our room at POR. Is this not the case? Are we supposed to retrieve our luggage from the airport and take it with us to the ME bus?

Or do I need to make a phone call to ME and ask?

The yellow tags will come in a separate envelope. I think the luggage tags that you did receive and the yellow strips come from two different places. If you don't get the yellow tags in a few days, give Disney a call. Have a great trip!!

It sounds like you received the package with your trip details and the vouchers for everything included in your package. The Magical Express package comes seperately.

Thank you. I guess I'll wait until next week before I make the call.

When is your trip? The DME info should come about 30 days before your trip.

The tags you got are the ones that come when you book a package with Disney.

Maybe the tags got lost in the Christmas mail then, as we leave in 3 weeks.

It shows in the booklet that we do have ME service from the airport to the resort, but why then didn't they just enclose the yellow tags instead of the other ones? Makes no sense to me. :confused3

Your Disney package materials are made up and sent out from an entirely different division at Disney than DME packets.
You should expect to see your DME in the next week or so. If you don't receive it by the weekend, I would call DME, not Disney reservations, and make sure they have you listed and have them send out a new packet post haste.

Thank you! :) I just wish they would send EVERYTHING in ONE PACKET. I guess I'll wait until after the mail goes on Monday and if we don't have them by then I will call the Magical Express number.

The DME yellow tags look like the kind that the airline uses to route your luggage. They will be long sticker like tags that wrap around your luggage handle.

The blue tags are your gift for booking a WDW resort package and will in no way help route your luggage to the proper resort.

I would call Disney and double check. When I hadn't received mine approx 3 weeks out, I called and found out there was a glitch in the system, and mine were sent to the hotel's address instead of my address. The CM on the phone said he'd seen it happen several times with the new computer system.

I had entered my Magical Express info on the DVC member website, so I'm not sure if that made a difference or not.

The CM sent a new set out and I had them within 3 days, and I'm in Canada.

Personally, I wouldn't wait to call. Call now and see if they have your reservation for ME. They should be able to tell you if the ME info was sent out.

Your luggage tags that come with the Disney package look like this:

The same thing happened to us. We are leaving the 15th of Jan( 11 days)and have received the welcome package with the plastic luggage tags and vouchers, but have not yet received the yellow luggage stickers for Magical Express. So I called them today and the Lady I spoke with comfirmed all my info and then said she would drop them in the mail. She said it would take 5 days or so for them to arrive but that we had plenty of time. I read on the WDW website that if you do not get them in time that you should get your own luggage and head to the magical express desk in the airport when you arrive and they can help you.
I think they used to send it all at once.....I havent been in 3 years so maybe it has changed. :flower3:

I just saw on this forum that if you DO NOT receive your yellow luggage tags for Magical express that you can go the the ME desk at the airport and give them your checked luggage receipts and they will handle picking up your luggage and getting it to your room for you. You can get your luggage yourself and bring it with you. :thumbsup2

Ok, so I will begin by saying I am a big DME fan and use it every time we go, and that we have had a very good experience with it. But, from experience, I can tell you that it works far better if you have the Yellow tags on all of your checked baggage. We did not get enough tags the last time we were down (this past August) and the ones without the tags did not arrive for more than 24 hours (this despite the fact that they had the airline tags and descriptions of the bags). Apparently, if you do not have the yellow tags on, the bags end up on the carousel with all the other bags from your flight, then they go back to the airline and only then do they get claimed by DME. The Yellow tagged bags are extracted before the carousel and trucked directly to your resort.

My advice is, if you don't have your tags 2-3 weeks from your departure, call them and have them express mail (or overnight) a set of yellow tags to you. It will save everyone a lot of waiting and hassle.

I hope you have a great trip!

Thanks...I am just praying that I will get the tags by friday or saturday and have them in plenty of time!:goodvibes

Nope, they have ALWAYS been mailed separately. I first used DME when it was only 4 DAYS old, and even back then we got 2 separate mailings from 2 different return addresses, one was The Walt Disney Travel Company and one was Disney's Magical Express. But if you book your trip through a travel agent, the TA might send it to you all at once in order to save themselves the cost of postage(that is, the TA gets 2 different mailings but may wait 'til they get both before mailing it all to you all at one time).
