Hello All! We have never used Magical Express before - usually we are too anxious to get to Disney and we want to make a grocery store stop. This year I am considering ME to save a few $$. So, how long does it really take? Any advice? Is it worth the money to get a car service from the airport?

Appreciate your thoughts!

Have a magical day!

DME generally will get you to your resort within 60-90 minutes from when you get off of your plane if you use the luggage transfer service or have only carry-on bags. The average time is about 70 minutes. Add at least another 20 minutes if you collect your own bags (which you will have to do if your flight arrives between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.).

Using a car service or taxi and collecting your own bags generally takes almost exactly the same amount of time as using DME and the luggage transfer service.

IMO, the time it takes is not generally the biggest difference between DME and other transport options. The real differences are things like the grocery stop and the experience itself. Some people just don't like the whole bus thing and are happier shelling out the $ for a car service or cab. Some people can't live without a rental car. Some people (like me) are fine with the DME system and with using Disney transport once on site. There's no empirically better or worse choice; it's mostly a matter of preference.

It sure is. Gets you in the mood the minute you board the bus.

It usually takes about 90 minutes from the time you deplane, until you get to your resort.

Enjoy!

I have had times, from gate to resort, of between 50 and 85 mins, with the vast majority being in the 60-65 mins range. Only one time has it taken longer than that...and there were slight extenuating circumtances.

Is it worth it to save the money?? Sure is. That's over $100 you can save. So...what to do about groceries? Well..you could just buy stuff at the store at BC. Or, you could hike over to BW, cross the street and go to the Hess station...lots of good deals there. Or, you can use a grocery delivery service. I've used www.wegoshop.com as well as www.gardengrocer.com both with good results.
