Magical express to airport

Please don't flame me - a legitimate question! We are staying at a Disney resort but will be hiring a car after our stay for a few days in Daytona Beach. Hotwire has really cheap cars from the airport - can we take Magical Express to the airport and then pick up a hire car? Or do you have to have a flight for that day? Saves me paying for a taxi to the airport.

I am pretty sure (90%+) all guests are entitled to ONE round trip on ME. So yes, simply pick a flight that's ~2 hours after you want to pick up your car and tell ME that's your flight (ex: you want to pick up your car at noon, pick a flight departing around 2p).

I need the same thing and I spoke with DME. I will simply take DME back to the airport on the day of checkout. I am picking up my car at MCO.

Here's how I see it - you are entitled to round trip ME when staying onsite at WDW. Unless it specifically states that you MUST board an airplane once at MCO, you can do whatever you want once you get there!

It doesn't say this . . . so once you get back to the airport, do as you please.

When you take DME back to the airport, you do not have to get out of town by sundown, let alone via airplane.

The significance of flying is that the only destination of DME coaches leaving WDW is Orlando International Airport. Sometimes the CM making the DME reservation finds it easier to work with a single number (a flight number) as opposed to two numbers separated by a colon (a time) so it helps if you have in the back of your mind a flight, any flight, any airline leaving about 3 hours after you want to depart your resort for the airport.

why not rent your car at the Dolphin resort or the car care center on site and save a trip to MCO

I would think that it is cheaper to rent at the airport versus the Dolphin.

thanks for your advice - it will save us quite a few dollars to not only get ME to the airport but pick up a car from there. (hundreds actually)

Now if I could only figure out a way to get from the airport to Universal without paying! lol

So do I arrange ME once I get to the resort or do I have to prebook?
