Hi all! We are thinking of trying something new this trip - flying late on a Monday night and staying at the airport hotel before catching the ME on Tuesday morning. My first question, can we do this? I know we register our flights with ME so I'm not sure if you can change the times. My second question is about our bags. If we get in late but don't need our bags that night, will ME pick them up the next day to take to our hotel? Or would we be better off taking them with us?

Thank you so much for any help with this!

You can do that. You will need to get your bags and take them with you, though.

Thank you! That's what I was thinking we would need to do but just wanted to see! Anybody ever done this? How was the hotel in the airport?

Yes, I've done exactly the same thing in the past. We flew into MCO around 11pm and decided it wasn't worth staying onsite just to sleep. We pricelined an airport hotel and received a Sheraton about 5 mins away with free airport shuttle service. Worked out great.

I can't recall if we had to "fudge" our flight info, I don't recall doing that.

I've read great things about the Hyatt at MCO and know they have a relationship with DCL regarding baggage transfer. Not sure if this extends to DME.

You shouldn't have to, but occasionally you will get a CM that doesn't realize that this can be done. If that happens you can just hang up and try again. You could also just say that you are flying in on the day you want to use DME, but that you haven't booked your flight yet. They don't need a flight number for your arrival flight.

Don't think of it as "Magical Express the next day."

Just think of it as "Magical Express on your Disney resort check-in day."

The big difference is that instead of arriving by airliner, you're arriving at the airport on an airport-area hotel shuttle (or on the elevator from your room at the Orlando Airport Hyatt).

When you make Magical Express reservations, just tell the agent the approximate time you plan to arrive at the Magical Express welcome area.

As others have noted, one downside to such a plan is that you have to deal with your checked bags.

The other downside is that your Disney resort room is very unlikely to be ready when you arrive in the morning. You'll have to leave your carry-ons and checked bags with bell services and then make arrangements to have them brought to your room when the room is ready.

And because these are not Magical Express baggage transfers, Disney does not pay any of the tips to the people who assist you with your bags.

Thanks so much for all the info! We may only have one suitcase so not too no of a deal to get it and bring to the hotel. Would just love to wake up, grab the ME and be off - with a good night sleep!
