Good afternoon! My husband and I are headed to WDW tomorrow and were originally using DME. But, we found a super great car rental rate. Then, we changed our outbound flight to arrive six hours early, which means our car rental will not be ready quite yet. If I try to change it now, I get a triple the price for the rental.

So, we are thinking we will approach the Dollar counter when we get there, see how much they will charge to pick the car up early. If less than $60 (the whole rental is only $105), then we will do it. If more, then I was thinking we would use DME to the resort, hang out and have lunch and then use DME to return to the airport to get our car.

Has anyone every done this?

Thanks!

Theresa

I don't believe you can just hop on the DME any time you like. You have to be on their schedule for pick up and return.

Yes, I'm positive I would need to make arrangements when checking in for boarding at the airport. Wouldn't expect to hop on. I'll call to confirm.

It's the arrangements to be taken TO the airport that are the most important.

Can you call Dollar and ask to just move the reservation? That might be easier for them to do.

just "re" read and noticed the OP is probably already at Disney. I will keep post in for others to possibly use.

1- If you call Dollar the day of or the night before and let them know you arrival is earlier they should be able to change, unless of course it cause you to have an extra day of rental.

2- You may want to check for the Dollar location at Hotel Blvd (DTD) locations. You could use ME to hotel. You could take bus to DTD and walk across the street. You could possibly wait until 2nd day to pick it up and save yourself a day or two of rental. There are a number of car rentals on property that you could use, just an idea. We are getting a car for 3 days of our 8 day trip.

3- I would think to return to airport on ME would waste a whole lot of time, not to mention getting ME to allow you to do so could be confusing

Whatever you do, good luck!

Dollar has a rental location at the Wyndham hotel across the street from the DTD bus stop. You can check the rates there and avoid paying the airport concession fees associated with renting at the airport. and you can also drop the car off at MCO.
