I have a few questions about DME.
1) We arrive at 10:30 pm. will the wait be long for the bus, and if it takes a few hours to get your luggage does that mean it will show up at 2 in the morning when we are asleep?

2) One party of our group did not get their tags, they arrive a day later. What is the proceedure for this?

Thanks for the help. :confused3

1) You should not have an unreasonably long wait. You sign in, then get in line for your assigned bus and board the bus. How long you wait depends on how many other guests are arriving around the same time, how many people are already on your bus (if it was there when you got in line), where you are going...
You can request that your luggage not be delivered until the next morning. It is ALWAYS advisable, any time you fly, to pack immediate necessities (medications, toiletries, travel documents, sleeping clothes, a change of clothes, possible a swimsuit) in your carry-on.
Or you can pick your luggage up at the airport and bring it to the bus yourself - do NOT affix the yellow tags if you decide to do this, or your luggage will never appear on the carousel. DO remember to tip anyone who handles your luggage or assists you with it. Disney covers the tips for DME-delivered bags.

2) Your other person's tags could still come; or they can get their own luggage (see step one); or they can give the CM at DME registration their claim check/s and a description of the luggage, and it will be pulled and delivered.

So am I correct that if I pull my own luggage that it will go on our bus, if I use the yellow tags it will go on a seperate vehicle?

Yes. Those bags with the yellow tags will get pulled before they ever hit the baggage carousel. they get put on a different truck and then delivered to the resorts.
If you want to be sure to have your bags, then do not put the yellow tags on them. They will go to baggage claim and you can pick them up there and have them put underneath the bus. Then you will have them when you check in.

If I pull my own baggages (discard the yellow tags), I can carry all my luggages to ME, and put them underneath the ME bus? Do I get a receipt/tag from the driver for those luggages?

All I read that drivers do not allow to bring carry-on luggages onto ME, they have to be underneath the bus too. Do you think it only restricts to bulky carry-ons? Can I bring baby-stroller on the bus, or it has to go underneath as well?

Should I tip the driver of the ME? If yes, should I do it before I get on the bus (when he helped to load my luggage), or when I get off (when luggages are unloaded).

Thanks!

This is a very interesting thread. We are using ME and i only know that you put the tags on your bag and they show up to your room...Will they show up same day??That is what i though and like biggroofy..whom do we tip?? :confused3

The driver loads and unloads the luggage hold. The driver sorts the luggage by destination and loads it properly.

There's a lot less room for carry-ons in the motorcoach than on an airplane. The overhead on the motorcoach is really only appropriate for coats. You can put a purse, camera bag, or laptop bag on your lap, but there's really no room for something like a 20-inch rolling bag.

When someone handles your luggage, it's customary to tip when the luggage is returned to you. I would base the amount on the quality of the service.

Your luggage typically shows up in your room a few hours after you land. If you're arriving very late, you may want to arrange to have your luggage delivery postponed until the next morning.

Disney takes care of the inbound bell service gratuity, if you use DME as designed. That's why you don't need to be in your room when your luggage is delivered.

Disney does not take care of other gratuities. If you get bell service assistance when you're checking out, or if you get bell service assistance when you're checking in because you chose to take your luggage onto the motorcoach, then tipping is customary and expected.

The DME drivers appreciate tips. If they're handling your luggage, it seems reasonable to tip.

Thank you for the info. :thumbsup2

I heard that ME isn't that good and i shouldn't use it...any one have any problems?? princess:

Where have you heard this???

Do a search of this board. There are VERY few complaints, loads and loads of good experiences. What I read a lot of, however, is posts like yours. I think if people think there are problems, then that idea perpetuates itself and sort of has a life of its own, like a rumor. You say you've heard there are problems. Have you read of any single actual problem, our has it been people expressing anxiety about the unknown?

I've done the math before: DME has been around for about 40 weeks. That's 280 days. Between 6,000-10,000 people have used it daily, so there have been somewhere between 1.68 million and 2.80 million users so far. On these boards I think I've read less than a dozen actual complaints about actual experiences that the writer had. 12 complaints out of 2 million rides? Sounds like a pretty great service to me. I loved it when I used it.

DME is very good. I keep reading posts like the one above, the "I heard that..." posts.
While there is a possibility for less than perfect/ideal service in any situation, the VAST majority of DME users are completely satisfied, if not thrilled, with the service and treatment.
I mean, why not? As long as you know what to expect (i.e. your luggage most likely will not be waiting for you in your room, what if DME did that and you changed rooms at Registration?), what's not to like? It's free, it's comfortable, it's easy...

I guess another way to address your question is to ask you your definition of "good." If "good" means a private ride with just you and your family, then DME stinks. Towncar companies make less money because of DME, but there will always be a niche for people who want personalized, private service that makes them feel like a VIP. I booked my trip before DME was even announced, and I planned on hiring a towncar instead of taking Mears.

But if "good" means FREE, timely, safe transportation that you share with a bus full of other excited Disney guests (and you might stop at a couple of other resorts before yours), and also includes delivery of your luggage so that you don't touch it between your home airport and your resort room, then yes, DME is good.

I did not mean to make anyone upset..so i am sorry. I am going to use ME and please believe me when I say i heard that i was bad fromone person. My sister. I am going to have to ask her about it again to get what she said was wrong but we are goping to use it anyway. Thank you all for your imput. :teeth:

ditto on  -ing ME!

the only incoming delay was our own fault ~ didn't realize that luggage is pulled BEFORE it gets to the carousel :rolleyes1 . the wait was no longer than our reg wait for a national/alamo car rental (& soooooooooo much better than budget rental 3+ hour waits.... :furious: ), & MUCH more pleasant (corny jokes, goofing around, etc).

on our return, we got there at the time specified, but the busdriver decided to leave earlier than scheduled (without us) :confused3 ~ no prob, bell services called & they sent another bus.

ME makes us feel like our *magical vacation* begins at MCO.........
:sunny:
