Magical Express Question

So, last time we flew into MCO we took the Magical Express to and from the airport and it was great.

We are doing this again next weekend, however flight times out of our home airport were lacking (anything affordable was too early on Friday for us with work), so we are going for a 2:00 flight on Saturday afternoon.

At any rate, I've signed up for the ME both ways again. But, I was wondering if we wanted to save a little bit of time from the airport if we took a Lyft instead of the ME if we would still get auto-assigned a bus on the way back, or if we skip it they will just assume we don't want to ride it back (which we would).

Thanks for any info.

If I remember correctly, you get your transfers for both ways prior to your trip. But if you don't, a simple phone call to Disney will assure you have a ride back.

While Lyft is definitely a little faster, keep in mind you'll have to wait for and retrieve your luggage before jumping in the car, which will eat up some of the time.

The front desk at your resort can confirm your return to the airport, when you check in at your resort. They can also print your voucher for the ride to MCO.

In the past, when we decided not to take DME from MCO to our resort, we did not automatically get a return voucher. I would speak to someone at the front desk at least a few days prior to your departure, or call DME directly, to make sure they have you scheduled for transport from your resort to MCO.

Thanks all. We have no bags to check, will only have the backpacks we carry on. I may just call the WDW reservations line and tell them we only plan to ride the ME back from the resort (before we even go). That way I know it is setup correctly. I have a $10 Lyft promo credit, so it will only be $25ish to take it this time. With not landing until 4:25 p.m., we want to maximize whatever time is left at MK that evening. Luckily I was able to grab Splash, Big Thunder, and Space between at 7:35, 8:35, and 9:35, so we have some good rides in that time.

Don't do this if you really want to know that it's set up correctly. Disney reservations is NOT the place to call. Call DME directly (866-599-0951). DME is a contracted service to Disney. The Disney reservation line does not have direct access to the DME systems . All they can do is fill out a form (the same one you can fill out on-line) and send it on to DME. As a bonus, calling DME directly will be much quicker than calling reservations.

Thanks all for the info on calling DME directly. I already added it online via the My Disney Experience site for both ways. I will call DME directly if we choose to change it. Gotta get my wife's approval first :-)

You can use the link I posted above to enter any changes if you want. There's a choice to click if you've already provided the info once before

Last time I used that it took about 3 or 4 days to receive confirmation of the request. Since we are only 8 days out I figure it might be best to call and talk to somebody. I appreciate the link though.

Just wanted to thank everybody for suggesting I contact DME directly. That was super easy. We decided to do a hired car as a Valentine's gift to each other.

Be sure your Magical Express reservation back to the airport actually got made properly.

You should get the paper confirmation at your room morning of the day before the day you will leave your resort.

If not, then go down to the front desk and get things squared away or reconfirmed before heading for the parks.

The lady I spoke to on the phone indicated she removed the trip from the airport but left the trip back to the airport, so we should be good. Thanks for the heads up though.

Edit: I also see on the MDE reservation page that it now indicates one way transfer back.

Strange. I've always gotten my emails (it sends 2 for whatever reason) immediately upon completing the form. Wonder why the differences? MDE weirdness I'm sure

I got an auto feedback form right away when I filled it out, but a few days later I got another form that seemed more official...
