Magical Express Question

So I am helping plan a trip for my wife and sister in law. My SIL has some travel vouchers to use so she is traveling separate for the flight down. They are on the same flights on the way back. How flexible is Magical Express? Can they do two separate reservations? Or should I just put them both on the same reservation even if they aren’t on the same flight.

You don't reserve a specific time when you are arriving in Orlando. Just call the ME number and give the representative the flight info for both flights. That's all that they need.

OP, hope you don't mind I ask a question on your thread, it is so appropriately titled Magical Express Question. :) Hope someone can share their experience who has been in similar situation.
My extended family from different city will arrive MCO 5 hours later than us. My room reservation is for me, my younger daughter and 2 nieces (arriving with their parents later). My own family of 4 will need M/E to resort but 2 of us are not listed on room reservation. When my other family arrives later, they will get rental car, drop off their 2 kids with me and take my 2 teens to stay with them near Universal, they will go there the next day. I know M/E is for registered resort guests and my teens are not on it. Will Disney turn them away if we use vouchers (is that still being used?) that belong to my 5 and 7 y/o nieces? Do they check name to match the person? My teen boy won't pass as a little girl! We are still 4 people using M/E.

They just scan a magicband from the group. Not sure how much they look into kids.

They have asked us for all of our magic bands on our last few trips. The first time, I thought we could just use one, but then I had to dig all of them out of the bag. I don't know how much they check into the kids and ages, gender, etc. But we all had to scan our own bands before getting in line.

I've had it done both ways in the past six months....just one person scans or everyone scans. Seems to be no consistency. Is there a reason your two kids aren't on the room reservation? Are they staying at US, with the others in your family? Will they never be in WDW? There are no paper vouchers used unless there is some strange reason to issue them. Everything is on the MBs...not having a MB would be a reason for a paper voucher, but one wouldn't be given to someone if they weren't on the reservation.
This might be a good situation for Uber...for all of you.

goof4tink, it's been many years since I have used M/E. They mailed us vouchers back then with luggage tags. My teens have magic band from previous trips but won't have them for this one because they are staying with sister in-law's family with their teen near Universal, they want to spend 2 days there then meet up at Disney parks for latter part of our vacation. Should I just count on giving up M/E to/from the resort? Would M/E desk at airport help me 'exchange' my nieces' M/E spots for my teens? I want my 2 nieces to have their own red and purple magic bands that's the main reason I prefer not to put teens in the room when they won't stay there. The other problem is my teens will be with me the last night because we will all need a ride to airport. Oh boy, it's getting complicated. :headache:

We used DME this past Tuesday and they asked for all our bands at the first check in and then just one for the party when boarding the bus.

OP - You can just make the reservations together as DME doesn't check flight info on the way in, on the outbound however make sure everything is correct as you are actually assigned a bus and pick up time. I like the online reservation form - its easy to use even with multiple guests and flights.

Jumbo - DME will only transport the guests listed on your WDW reservation (or that # of guests) but they don't check ID so if you have 5 guests on your room reservation you will need those 5 bands (and ideally those 5 people) to scan at check in. Who actually wears the bands is IMHO up to you.

I may be confused by your question but I don't know why the WDW guests wouldn't want to go to WDW and the Universal gests get transportation directly to Universal.

tjmw2727, thanks for your input. Glad to hear M/E does not check ID, but will the name/age flash up on the scanner? I will have 4 magic bands to match room reservation. My family of 4 will arrive 5 hours before sister in law's family. They will rent a car for duration of their trip because they will stay near Universal and go there for 2 days. At the end of arrival day after dinner, my teens will go with sister in law to Universal while I take her 2 young girls to stay with me at WDW. We will all meet up again at Disney on the 3rd day. What are the chances my 2 teens will pass M/E check-in using 2 young nieces' magic band? My nieces won't need M/E because SIL will rent car when they arrive 5 hours later. Thanks!

our names definitely popped up on the screen as the cast member greeted each of us and actually asked where my niece and nephew were (they live in fl and drove and I didn't reserve DME for them!). Not sure how much information is displayed though.
