We are headed down in August for our first family trip. Our flight should land by 10:30 , my question is when we sign up for the Magical Express is it a specific time slot ? I am worried about my kids being hungry and how long it will take to get to the resort and get checked in and settled. After you get of your flight would you have time to grab a quick bite at the airport or do you need to head straight to Magical Express ?

Thanks for any help !

I'm assuming you mean 10:30 AM. You can take your time getting off the plane and grab a bite in the airport if that is what you want to do. You head down to the DME area and they just direct you into a line for your bus and they come ever 20 minutes or whatever it is (I don't know) they aren't standing there checking for you to make sure you are on a specific bus.

I'd take a peak at the line for DME if I were you before you eat. The Magical Express it not like the park buses and it does not come every 20 minutes. You won't be out of luck if you do miss one because another will come but we found the time between getting in line and actually leaving for our resort to be quite long, almost an hour if I remember correctly. They seem like they wait for the bus to be full so if you go and the line is short, go ahead and enjoy lunch LOL

I don't know if we just had bad luck (we were there during 'slow' season) but I just looked to see if there is any typical turnaround time for ME and most places DO seem to say 20 minutes. So maybe it won't be so bad, I do know we landed at 1pm and didn't get to DTD until 4pm (we took a boat from POR right after we checked in and dropped our carry ons in the room).

The average timefor ME from landing to check in is 90 minutes

That sounds about right from our experience. We have done it in under an hour before, but were lucky that no one was in line when we got there and a bus was standing by.

Most times it is around 90 minutes. I agree with a PP, you may want to check the line first to see how long it is. You may get to the resort around noon with a 10:30AM landing.

Have you considered taking food with you on the plane? That's what we always do.

We always stop after we get off the plane. It was always tradition to stop and have a Whopper at BK when we landed, but now we don't come in that terminal :(

No set time you need to be there. Take your time.

We like to get off, stop at the bathroom and freshen up - wash up hands/face, I touch up my makeup, etc.

Then to some chow.

We have only waited in 1 long line for DME and that was us getting in the same line with a huge family reunion on a busy August Saturday. Even then we were at our resort right about the 90 minute mark.. we are typically checking in within 60 - 70 minutes of de-planing.

Thats what I suggest too. Eating is a great time killer on the plane and your kids should then be ok to take the first DME available to get you to your resort quickest.

I agree.... kids on the plane= snack time! keeps them busy and happy, and when we're on vacation, regular mealtimes are out the window anyway... in my ds' opinion, that's breakfast, early lunch, and late lunch on that day! and then we have dinnertime later on:rotfl:

You can always grab a few things at the airport and take it with you when you go to the bus. We only waited about ten minutes to get on a bus, but the ride to the resort took awhile because the bus stopped at four places before getting to ours.
