Hi all,
Last year when I was at WDW we stayed at all star movies and took the ME. They got our luggage and delivered it to us at the hotel. It was great! When we were going home we were responsible for our luggage. We had an early flight and left the hotel at 5am. I thought taking the ME would make getting back to the airport easier and we would be checked in and not have to deal with luggage. Is this how it is supposed to work? We are going back in April and I want to be prepared.

Sorry to stomp on your thread - but if someone really knows ME, maybe they can answer mine too.

We are flying in late (arriving at 7pm in June), and we don't want to wait up until 10-11 at night waiting for our luggage. How quick are they? And can we get our own luggage & have it transported w/us?

Missie - the trip back depends on your airline. They must be a participating airline for them to transport your bags to the airport and check you in. JetBlue participates and Southwest doesn't, for example. I will look for the full list somewhere and come back and post it. You will need to make sure you have paid for any additional bag charges an airline may charge before using the service as well. If you use a participating airline and get all squared away you will not have to deal with your own luggage.

Princess - I think you must plan on 3 hours approximately for wait time. It can be sooner or later, no way to really tell for a given day. Having said that you can do a number of things. You can wait and grab your own bags from baggage claim. Make sure you do NOT put the yellow DME tags on before you board your flight to MCO. This way you will have all your luggage with you on the bus and off the bus when you arrive. There will be some additional wait time and aggravation involved, but you will have your luggage. You can also ask that bell services hold your luggage for you until morning. They will not disturb you in the evening and will bring them to you in the a.m. Make sure you have what you will need in your carryons. You can also just let DME bring the bags when they get there and anticipate a 10:00 arrival in your room. That's your call as you know your family.

We are scheduled to arrive at 10:53 p.m. so we may ask for our bags to be held, but we will see.

Here is a link to the thread that may give you more information than you ever wanted to know about DME. Good luck.

o US Airways

This piece of it may have played into you not being able to use it, but I am not positive.

Although policy is that they can check luggage starting 12hrs prior to flight, some RAC desks may check luggage greater than the 12 hour mark (still same day only). Again, please check with your particular RAC desk for more details.
Desk is open from 5am-1pm, daily.

If you had to leave at 5:00 a.m. and the desk doesn't open until 5:00 a.m. they may have had limitations on your checkin ability for that reason.

Thank you very much - this is alot of info. I didn't even know where to start to look for this. THANKS:flower3:

You are both welcome. Good luck planning and have great trips!

Princess- Just to clarify a few things. 11:00p.m. would be your expected arrival time for your bags not 10:00p.m. It is 3 hrs after check-in not arrival time. As stated you can ask them to hold your bags until morning. Also if you get your bags and bring them to the bus a tip will be expected for handling of the bags.
Hope this info helps you out and have a great time.
