We are planning to fly in from Dallas early in the morning and go straight to the parks. I understand that with the Magical Express service, they bring your bags to your room within a few hours of your arrival. If check in time to the resort is 3:00 PM, can they check in our luggage earlier or will we have to pay for an extra day?

thanks

Don't worry. They won't put your bags in the room until you have checked in.

No. That's the whole point.
They deliver your bags to your room when the room is ready.
BTW, you can CHECK IN when you arrive at ANY time of the day.
If your room is not ready (porobably won't be), they WILL go ahead and give you room key-cards anyway, then you can just go on to the parks.

Any time after 3pm, you can call the phone number they give you and you'll know which room to return to. Your luggage should be sitting inside waiting for you.

They will just store your luggage on property until your room is ready. So no they will not charge you an extra day.

Even though check in time is at 3, your luggage may arrive prior to that. They just have it in a holding area until your room is ready, then deliver it. Disney doesn't charge for holding your luggage because you are already using DME.

I used DME on our trip back in October. It took a couple of hours for the CM's to deliver it to our room. DH was already at Pop to check us in prior to myself and our DS4's arrival via DME. We headed for Downtown Disney (DTD) and when we came back, our luggage was there waiting for us.

Edited: Sheesh :goodvibes! You DISers are quicker at posting than I am :rotfl: While I was typing this up, three of you have already answered

You can check-in when the ME bus drops you off at the resort, no need to wait until 3pm. When your room becomes ready, they will bring the bags to your room while you're out playing in the parks. (it may even be ready when you arrive, but there's no need to wait around for your luggage if you want to head straight for the parks)

So I can check in around like 10:00 and still not have to pay for an extra day even though the resort's check in time says 3:00?

That is wonderful news. Thank you all so much!

You can check in early in the morning. If you room is ready, great. If not, you can still get your room card, which will let you into the park. Later that day, your luggage will show up in your room. There is no extra charge to have them store your luggage. However, I am not sure what happens if you have purchased your tickets from an outside source.

There is never a fee or extra day charge for checking in early but the room itself is subject to availability.

Your tickets (if they came with the room) and parking voucher are given to you and charging privileges start as soon as you are served at the check in desk.

If you bought tickets elsewhere you should already have them. Will-call tickets are printed on the spot at any park Guest Relations when you get there. (Maybe they can be printed at the resort at check in, too.)

Also, when you get to the resort with ME, if your resort has bell service, you can check any of your carry-ons with the bell hop so you do not have to lug around everything when you go to the parks. We usually consolidate our carry-on stuff into one bag for the parks and check the rest with the bell hop. When you get to your room after the park, just call the bell service and they will bring your carry-ons to your room. A small tip would be a nice gesture for this service.

We did that very thing a week or so ago.
I handed my carry-on bag to the bellman (who gave me a numbered reciept) and I told him I'd like the bag delivered to my room when it was ready. I handed him a couple of bucks tip... and the bag was in my room (along with all the DME luggage) when we returned from the Hoop Dee Doo show that night.
Great service, even at the Value Resorts!

So how early could you actually show up on the day of your check-in. If I decided to take a very early flight, lets say arriving in Orlando at 6 or 7 a.m. I could still go and check in at my hotel, and head out to try and catch a rope drop at the park...to take "full" advantage of that days park ticket..

You could absolutely do that.

Just to recap: DON'T wait to check in at your resort. Check in as soon as you can get there. If you paid for a package which includes park tickets, you will get your park tickets at time of check-in. Your park tickets are also your room key, as well as your room charge key (if you decide to set up a room charge -- wonderful and convenient but not mandatory).

So even if your room isn't ready, you can, as someone already pointed out, just go and play and come back later.

And you never know, your room MIGHT be ready! Disney doesn't make you wait until some artificial time. If your room is ready at 7:00 a.m., you can have it at 7:00 a.m., no extra charge.

Any halfway decent hotel in the USA will hold your luggage on check-in day before check-in time, and will store your luggage on check-out day after check-out time. WDW resorts are no different.
