I am driving to Disney with my children. I purchased a package through a travel agent. My husband will be flying down to join us for a couple of nights. We are staying at a Disney resort. My travel agent said he would not be eligble for the magical express since he wasn't part of the package. Is that true?

Thanks

Yes his name is on our reservation but the agent said that he would have to purchase the same tickets as we did. (we have four days, he has two.)

The Travel Agent is wrong. Call (866) 599-0951. Make his Magical Express arrangements yourself.

This is good advise .

But if they don't have you in their system then CRO has to put you in.

Call your agent and have them do a ME ressie for the entire party .Then call ME and make whatever changes you need to do(take all off but DH ).Let the agent know you talked to ME and they said it would be alright.

Absolutely correct. I had my dd and dh fly down in order to meet me and I talked directly with DME to make sure all was fine. Their words were.."Anyone staying on-site at a WDW resort, as part of a reservation, is entitled to a trip to their resort from MCO and a ride back to the airport from the resort." So, call them and have them put your dh into their system so he can take DME to and from the airport!!

You're giving us contradictory information.

In your first post you said he's not on your package. Normally everyone on the reservation has to be on the same package and you have to be listed on the reservation in order to be eligible for DME.

In your second post you said he's on your reservation.

You can make a DME reservation if he's listed on your reservation.

Another poster was able to add a child to the reservation, but not the package, when he checked in. He was able to immediately make a DME reservation. Just make a DME reservation for yourself so you can give you husband your yellow bar coded tags.

I told her my husband was leaving two days early so he would not be purchasing the 4 day ticket. If she worked up a package price for myself and my children my husband would not be eligble? I'm confused. I first went threw Disney for my reservations and they said he would be eligible. I will just call Disney myself.

When I said he was not part of the package I was referring to the tickets, I gave her my husbands name and told her he was not staying the entire time. I assumed that since she asked for his name that meant he was on our reservation.

It sounds like you're right. Just call her back and tell her you want to confirm that your husband's name IS on the reservation. If she asks why, you want to be sure the resort knows he's registered in your room. Period. Then call and make his DME arrangements yourself.

Yep, I agree with all of the above. What your travel agent needs to realize is that being eligible for DME has NOTHING to do with whether you are part of a package or not. Room-only or package makes no difference for DME. It also makes no difference if the entire party arrives and leaves together or they each arrive on separate days and leave on separate days.

The ONLY criteria for using DME are:

* named on the reservation of a WDW owned-and-operated resort

* traveling from MCO to that resort on the day you are on the ressie to arrive

* traveling from that resort to MCO on the day you are on the ressie to depart

>>> not be purchasing the 4 day ticket

Yes, with a package everybody has to order the 4 day tickets, or everybody has to order 2 day tickets (in the latter case everybody except DH can expand theirs 6to 4 days after check in)

Trying to finagle the ticket situation could cause confusion resulting in DH being left off of the reservation and unable to take ME.

Thanks so much for everyones responses. I called and he will be able to use it.

Yet another reason to book directly thru Disney, thru a Disney specialist, like Dreams Unlimited or Small World Vacations, or just do the whole thing yourself. Bad or misinformed travel agents cause lots of trouble and confusion for folks.
