Magical Express Luggage only

I am sure this question has been answered before, sorry for repeat.
Can I have my bags tagged for delivery to my hotel and NOT use the bus. We will be renting a car, but it would be nice not to have to wait for the luggage and drag it around the airport. Has anyone ever done this? I am a little concerned about not collecting my own baggage.

You can't, your luggage won't leave MCO until you check in at the DME desk and have your voucher scanned as you board the bus.

What about taking the Magical Express bus to your resort, and then renting a car on Disney property when you need it? I know Alamo has a location there, they will even come and pick you up from your resort! I also know there is a car rental place in the Dolphin Hotel - my cousin used it and it worked out great!
