Never used ME before. Fllight won't get in until midnight. Staying at Polynesian. Any one have any idea how long it will take to get to the resort and where drop off for Poly is on the loop - first, second, ...?

For those who have arrived in MCO that late, is it still pretty busy?

I haven't arrived that late, but remember you will need to claim your own bags. And there are no set loops, so the Poly might be the first stop on your trip, or you might be the last resort to be dropped off. Most people get to their resort within 70-90 minutes after getting off their flight (last week it took us just under an hour).

The airport likely will not be very busy, but that's not really going to affect your timing too much. As noted, the DME luggage transfer service stops running at 10:00 p.m., so you will have to claim your own bags. When we have stayed at the Poly it has been the first stop on the bus, but at that hour they could have all kinds of non-standard groupings as passengers will be few and far between, so it's difficult to predict what will happen. The last time we got in late (not quite as late as you will), we wound up being the only people on a full-sized bus and had a private motor coach ride direct to the Poly.

I would hope that your bus will get you to your resort within 90 minutes of you landing, but it could take longer depending on how much time it takes to get your bags and other factors.

Normally DME doesn't wait for any specific passengers on any specific flight. I wouldn't be surprised (but I don't have any facts) if at some late hour DME holds a bus until late flights have arrived.

DME is on side B. I'd consider booking a car service, particularly if your airline uses the A side of the airport. Do you really want to have to lug your bags back up to level three, go across the airport then down to level one? Followed by waiting for your bus to get dispatched then an unknown number of stops.

Thanks Lewisc - I've been thinking the same thing. Never used a car service though - any recommendations? What would the cost be? TIA

Cost would be about $50-60 one way. You could book a towncar for your ride to the Polynesian and still use DME for your return back to MCO at the end of your stay. Or you could book a round trip with the towncar for about $100, plus tip.
Getting in at that time of night, I would be very tempted to hire a towncar. Much quicker.
