We are taking a Carnival cruise then heading to WDW, I doubt it, but are we eligible to take Magical Express from the port to our resort?

You MIGHT be able to take Magical Express from MCO to WDW, but Magical Express does not run from Port Canaveral, only the DCL buses. And there is a charge for those using DCL's transportation for their DCL cruise.

And no, you cannot take a DCL bus from port from your Carnival Cruise, even if you offer Disney money.

I doubt you can use the DCL buses from Canaveral. When we've taken the bus, your ticket info is on your room key. I don't think they do same day sales. The best chance is take a bus from Carnival terminal to MCO. Before you cruise, put in dummy flight info with your WDW reservation to match when you get to MCO from Carnival (say 10am). Then take your bags down to the Magical Express counter at MCO to go to WDW. It is probably a lot easier than it sounds. Many people use the dummy flight info for ME to get a free ride to the airport and catch an earlier DCL bus.

Don’t even bother with dummy flight information when making a Magical Express reservation from MCO to a WDW resort. Simply call DME directly at 866-599-0951 and tell them the time when you expect to be at MCO. Have your resort reservation confirmation number ready. This is much more efficient than reserving DME through the WDW contact number, since cast members there can sometimes not know how to make a reservation without a flight number.

They do do same day sales as I bought my DCL bus transfer on the last morning the cruise (bought it at guest services) but I agree you can't use the DCL bus from a Carnival Cruise.

Even though you won't be able to take a DCL transfer bus to Port Canaveral you can still try Uber. It will be about $75 and cheaper than renting a car. Once you get to the airport you can hop on the DME bus to get your free transportation to your resort.

Why not Uber directly from port to resort? Going from port to MCO to resort just makes the trip twice as long.

That is true but I was thinking from a financial standpoint. You're totally right though plus it's only an additional $30 if you just use UberX.

$75 is right in line with what I've usually seem renting from National/Alamo from Canaveral and dropping at Car Care Center. And you get the car for 24 hours that way.
That price is consistent with our experience as well. Much more convenient than the DCL transfers, since we stay DVC for our post-cruise stays and having the car for the full 24-hour rental allows us to make a grocery stop enroute to our resort. We usually drop off at the Dolphin (stay at BoardWalk Villas), but rental rates are typically the same as for dropping off at the Car Care Center.
