Magical Express for your bags only

Can you do it? We will be using a town car and will have three young kids and would prefer to just head to BLT to start the vacation without waiting for bags...

No, the ME staff are as rigid about this as the TSA is about not allowing planes to leave the gate if a passenger who checked luggage doesn't board. I.e., If you don't check in at the ME welcome center at MCO and allow you and your party to herded over to the bus boarding queue (which is guarded by hawkeyed CMS who let no one stray, not even to use the potty), your bags with the cute ME tags will end up here:

What the transportation board is going to tell you is that DME was not intended to be used this way however, nobody will stop you from doing it. The thing to keep in mind is if one or more of your bags gets lost, nobody will know to look for it. The bag search would only happen if you checked in at the DME desk upon arrival. Once you check in, they know to look for your bags. If you never check in, they aren't going to look for them.

You are not supposed to do it but if you do it, you have no recourse for a lost bag. Personally, the 15 minutes I have to wait at the carousel is not worth the risk of spending my vacation with no luggage arriving. We always do a towncar and the wait for luggage is minimal.

I have no idea if it's allowed or not, but I will say that when we took a towncar a few years ago, we were the ONLY people on the plane not doing magical express. Our bags came out pretty darn quickly (except the one that ME took by accident because it had a sliver of an old ME ticket still on it... that one came later to us at the hotel).

Ah, the hazards of not removing old baggage tags when you have come home from your vacation. Suppose you were going somewhere else in the Orlando area.

Officially, DME is not a baggage-only service.

Except for the time I waited close to two hours for my luggage to make it to the carousel because they pulled all tarmac personnel inside during thunderstorms.

Point being there are no absolutes. DME with luggage transfer isn't always faster than waiting for your baggage and using a town car, and vice versa.

I checked into ME and then went to get a rental car.....We were traveling with an infant and did not want to hold him on the bus. (People loose their minds at Disney....No seat belts/carseats on the bus...Hey... No Problem!)

Anyway, we did this four or five times when DS was an infant/toddler and our bags always made it to the resort.
