Magical Express for Luggage w/ No Passengers?

Hello. Planning a DVC trip for 13 people and trying to figure out logistics, luggage, rental cars, etc. is becoming more complicated than I'm used to for our WDW trips.

Wondering if anyone has tried doing Magical Express for literally their luggage only and then renting a car or cars at MCO and just meeting up with their luggage at their hotel later on in the day?

Does Disney even allow this (i.e. luggage traveling on Magical Express without corresponding people on the bus with it)?

I wouldn't think so. I order for Mears to get paid by Disney, they need to scan your DME voucher as you get on the bus. Your voucher is tied to your luggage tag.

Officially no. It probably works anyway, but in the rare cases that it doesn't, things can get messy.

It's probably simplest just to have everyone take ME (or, if you prefer, several towncars). You can acquire rental cars at your leisure at the Swan/Dolphin, or Car Car Center once you are situated.

Going home...It's absolutely permitted to use RAC to check your luggage and not take the bus to the airport.

A different company (or companies) sorts and handles the baggage while Mears carries the guests.

So Mears is not cheated if guests decide at the last moment not to take Magical Express.

The OP is talking about DME upon arrival at MCO, not returning at the end of their trip. With that in mind, and with the knowledge that we aren't discussing this on any other threads, this one is closed.
